Slim pickins mailbox-wise this month; no writee, no readee. As you are reading this, Lou Ann and I are on our annual "no kiddos" vacation. This year's destination is Eastern Europe, where we are bicycling from Prague to Budapest via Vienna. Can't wait to see what Bohemia is really like!

We were recently informed that David Westphal was recently awarded the Distinguished Teaching Award by New Mexico Tech, where he has been an assistant professor of physics for two years. After graduating from Dartmouth, Dr. Dave received his master's and Ph.D. from Montana State University, along with a second (thankyouverymuch) master's degree from Yale.

Most of you have read by now that MikaelSalovaara is leaving Goldman Sachs to set up his own "vulture fund" similar in nature to the financially successful but politically controversial Water Street Recovery Fund that he managed for Goldman. According to the N. Y. Times, the new fund is expected to raise at least $200 million and possibly much more. Mikael's successful management of the Water Street Fund was characterized by the Times as being the result of "hard-nosed tactics" which he no doubt refined on the Hanover Plain. Best of luck to you, Mr. Salovaara.

The recent lack of mail suggests a.) you all took a break from writing during your summer vacations or b.) there are more MIAs out there than previously expected, among them being:

Bruce Anthony Nina Braunworth Andy Craig Louis Gluek Peter Johnson Kenneth McKenna John Reed Nicholas Weber

I always take my judgement from a Fool Because his judgement is so very Cool, Not prejudic'd by feelings great or small. Amiable state! he cannot feel at all.
