From Vinalhaven, Maine, "Farmer" Kirkham holds the record for the most eastern classmate. After an M.D. from Yale and service in the army, he joined the Veteran's Medical Service and became chief of the Sunmount Sanitarium in the Adirondacks. When antibiotics made treatment for tuberculosis ambulatory, he continued at various other hospitals in the service and retired ten years ago to Maine. His interests are world travel, American History, and classical music. He reports he's as healthy as ever.
Ro Burbank stopped by the Ned Lords to find they are now in real estate development. Of great interest to the class, on June 14 the Ro and Constance Burbank House was dedicated at Proctor Academy where he was a former teacher. In attendance were classmates Goldthwait, Beatty,Manchester, and Davis.
The United States Skating Association reported that Lyme Wakefield has been one of its judges for over 50 years.
Class president Mannie Sprague had a three-page spread in the Star Free Press, complete with pictures reviewing his many accomplishments starting with water polo, his role in the Defense Department, and recounting his many contributions to Ojai, Calif., particularly his promotion of tennis. One picture included Chilant showing her usual charm.
Although Bud Madden started off at VMI, he transferred to Dartmouth and has been a staunch alumnus ever since. He retired from his business as manufacturers representative for heavy duty equipment, mostly cranes, in the Bay Area, and moved to Lexington, Va., where he enjoys the good life and a lot of golf. He thinks President Freedman is doing a good job, but needs more time to get his program started. Though he still gets the Review, he thinks they have lost some support from the conservative columnists due to their recent excesses.
