Once again congratulations are due a fellow '73. On September 12 the Corporation for Public Broadcasting in Washington, D.C., announced the election of Dan Brenner as vice chairman of its board of directors. Dan is director of the Communications Law Program at UCLA and has been on the board at CPB since October 1986.

Mike Havern and I had a great telephone visit, catching up on his travels since graduation. Mike's career since Tuck has been one of high-tech consulting, finally landing him in Palo Alto. He does a lot of the traditional consulting travel which was augmented a few years ago when the whole family took a three-month sabbatical in Europe. The Haverns, including Patrick and Sarah, aged 7 and 6, live in a neighborhood that was originally built by the early Stanford profs, which is fine with Mike because it has retained an eastern flavor.

Doug Jaeger also spends a lot of time traveling as group product manager for Graco's Industrial Equipment Division, marketing fluid-handling products worldwide. Doug and his family live in St. Paul whence they set out in the "typically middle class mini-van" for the reunion last summer. On the return trip, they stopped to visit several friends, spreading the chicken pox with which five-year-old Jillian had come down the Saturday of reunions and which had spread to four-year-old Allison by July 4. Jeffrey, who is 11, seems to have been spared but, if any of you suffered family epidemics after reunions, you know who to blame.

Bill Gruen is hard at work in D.C. meeting deadlines as a tax accountant. He's still playing tennis and jogging but left teaching two years ago, probably because David and Chessie, aged 3 and 1, like eating.

Mitch Kroner asked that I check on Greg Hahn and Wayne Leibel, so here's a report on three old roomies: Mitch lives in Groveland and has a general law part- nership in Georgetown, Mass., specializing in real estate and estate law. Both of Mitch's kids, Todd who is 11 and Beth who is 8, play soccer and Mitch is president of the Groveland youth soccer league. Mitch has also been active as treasurer of his local Dartmouth club for the last six years. Greg is a mining engineer with CoCa Mines, traveling extensively, but always happy to get back to Colorado for hunting, fishing, hiking, and skiing. Greg and Leslie and another couple are a sort of "leader-by-committee" for their ten-year-old daughter Gretchen's Girl Scout troop, another good excuse to enjoy the great outdoors. Wayne, who never answers Greg's letters, was recently promoted to associate professor of biology at Lafayette College. Wayne also plays the accordion with a traditional Irish folk band, in which he is fondly known as "Dr. Squeeze." I asked if, given his newly tenured position and the need to protect his academic image, he wore a disguise while playing. Wayne answered that he only felt the need to wear a bulletproof vest.

Our new head agent, Paul Sehl, will be contributing to the column for the next few months and has asked that I ask anyone interested in serving as a class agent to give him a call (Chicago work phone: 312/318- 1080).

Paul and Andy Caffrey, who will be acting as his right-hand man, have a dream of more agents, fewer assignments. Paul knows that bettering the many records set by head agent emeritus George Wolohojian will be impossible without a strong group of volunteers and givers. George's last record was set last year with our 15 th Reunion all-timehigh gift of $147,879. Over the years George has himself contributed an even greater equivalent in man-hours. Speaking for all of us, George, many thanks. And to all of us, Happy Holidays!
