Even Dartmouth can't escape taxes. According to Business Manager Jack Skewes '51, T's6, the College pays taxes on any income-generating property. Hence, the cafe portion of the Hop is taxable, as are College-owned rental homes, dining halls and residence halls. Last year the College paid $1.3 million in real estate taxes to Hanover, making it the town's largest taxpayer.
