As mentioned in our last issue, Mike Coffield has been selected to defend George Washington in an upcoming London Mock Trial. Referring to Mike's interview by National Public Radio's Scott Simon, Frank Kehl elaborates: A month earlier, Simon quoted parts of a letter from Frank Kehl concerning a Simon interview with the farmworkers' controversial leader Cesar Chavez. Kehl had praised Simon for being supremely fair and professional in his handling of the story involving the current grape boycott, pesticides, farmworkers' rights, Chavez's leadership and ethics. Last summer wasn't the first time Coffield and Kehl were bracketed together. In 1962, along with Heath Coffield, they led off the Dartmouth Project Asia years at Chung Chi College, Chinese University of Hong Kong. Two years later, Coffield officiated as best man at Kehl's wedding to Dorothy Loo. As for Simon, Dartmouth has previously given his National Public Radio colleague Susan Stanberg an honorary doctorate. Perhaps it should consider Simon as well: some believe his "Weekend Edition" to be the best news magazine on the electronic media (and obviously Simon has excellent taste in sources).

The Young Presidents Organization held a March 1990 gathering in Sidney, Australia. Comprised of corporate presidents under the age of 50, the YPO is an international group of 6,000 active members. Dartmouth was well represented by Dean Spatz '66, Tom Cutter, Brock Saxe, Fairleigh Lussky, Steve Martindale, Sam Cabot '63, and Kim Morris '63. Unfortunately, most of the '62s have been, or will be, departing the YPO due to long-toothism this year.

I'm in the middle of a book entitled Guatemala, A Cry from the Heart by Dave Schwantes, a sobering account of life, and repression, in our neighbor to the South. Dave spent several months researching Guatemala's poor and the political problems there. He has also recently started his own consulting firm, Schwantes Associates (Plymouth, Minn.) after four years as president of Vision-Ease, a manufacturing company in the ophthalmic industry.

Around of snaps for Jim Page, appointed senior vice president of Bank of New England, and Stu Heydt as the new head of the Geisinger Foundation, a growing medical facility in northeastern Pennsylvania.
