Time once again to clean out the desk drawer of my mind and sort out all the old news that's been lost beneath the stapler and paper clips.
I neglected to inform you, my loyal readers, that one of our own has thrown his hat into the political arena. My sources tell me, by way of an invitation, that John Fiqone was a candidate for supervisor in San Francisco. John was running as a fiscal conservative, and serving on his advisory committee, along with California State Senator Quentin Kopp, was none other than Tony Pritzker. I may have missed the election results in the Boston Globe, so if someone could forward them to me it would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks and apologies to John King, whose letter was truly misplaced at the back of my desk. John and wife Rachel Kenzie '81 are proud parents of two and are currently living in Washington, where John is working for the Foundation of Human Rights and Democracy in China "a coalition involved in the Chinese Democratic Movement. Rachel works for Genetic Therapy Inc., a biotechnology start-up which hopes to fix people by fixing their genes. Look for their ad campaign with the theme: 'Your Genes or Ours
John also passed along some other interesting information: "Matt Yee has taken the plunge and is cutting his first solo album of all original pop music entitled 'lnnocent Love.' I've heard a couple of the demo tapes and they're great, especially the title track. I think we have Top 40 potential here. Matt performed solo at Eleazar's Dungeon during our Hanover days, and then went off to law school, but now he's back doing what he loves better than ever. The album was slated for summer release under Matt's Hawaiian name, 'Mattaio,' on the KMI label. Leslie Fleming, artist and classmate out of San Francisco, has designed the album cover."
Drop a line to Matt along with your address and eight bucks at 98-1970 G Kaahumanu Street, Pearl City, HI 96782 and he'll whip you off a copy. Better yet, fly over and drop in on him—you'll save the postage fee.
Moving from the warm air to the cold, we find that Barb Allen has recendy been named president of the frozen foods division at Quaker Oats in Chicago. Look for her in your grocer's freezer today.
That's it, that's all. Until next time, keep your feet on the ground and keep reaching for the stars. Wubba-wubba-wubba, goodbye and God bless.
