Our resident barrister in Los Angeles, Steve Wiener, reports, "I met with Mike Coffield in Chicago in early August. His firm, Coffield, Ungaretti, Harris & Slavin is now a mega-firm. Mike is active in the American Inns of Court Foundation, which we are joining. The Inns are created to encourage trial advocacy skills with an emphasis on legal ethics and excellence in lawyering. Our firm, Solish, Jordan & Wiener is now 18 lawyers and growing." Steve and his wife, Marilyn, still reside in Pacific Palisades and invite any and all '62s in the area to make contact.

The class of '62 is delicately balanced on that cusp of life; some are still producing offspring (Bill Pierce for one), others are becoming grandparents... or, perish the thought, both at the same time. Be aware that the Playskool division of Hasbro Inc. has graduated Barry Alperin to its vice chairmanship. At last report, Barry and his wife, Mimi, were preparing his lunch box in New York City.

Speaking of human resources, Rob Sayer has been named to the new posts of senior vice president and director of human resources for First Bank System Inc., a Minneapolis bank holding company. Rob, previously executive director of Russell Reynolds Associates, lives with his wife, Aly, in Minneapolis; their elder daughter Kate is a Dartmouth '86... time to review Alperin's product line again, Rob?

By now, you have received Bill Sadd's class dues notice and treasurer's report. As Bill points out, the '62 Memorial Book Fund is now fully funded. In lieu of a book donation, please consider a supplemental gift to the class of '62 Faculty Fellowship when you send in your dues. This Fellowship is unique in providing the younger deserving faculty with much needed sabbatical time and it requires additional funding.
