Happy Holidays! Some news from campus, where the class of '8l Executive Committee met to plan activites for the year. Don Pease, professor of English, as you may remember, joined the group for breakfast. A lively discussion ensued about the recent press coverage of the Dartmouth Review's activities. Those present included Pat Berry,Keith Hammonds, Patsy Fisher Harris (our own Alumni Affairs "mole"), JulieKoenninger (our Alumni Council representative), Steve Kroll, Abner Oakes, Barney Oldfield and Brent West.
9Abner, who was recently married to Lolly Jewett '83, has finished his fellowship at Columbia Teaching College and is returning to Tabor Academy in Marion, Mass. Julie, as Chairman of the Alumni Council's Committee on Continuing Education, is involved in a mentoring program for innercity high school students in the Boston area. The plans are to expand the program to other urban areas.
Seen stalking the Hanover plains (separately!) were Ed D'Agostino and GregClow. No clue why Ed was there, and the rumor is that Greg is moving from Boston to California. How's that for real information?
Ellen Brout is organizing a San Francisco mini-reunion for sometime this winter. Gail Chen has taken on the New York area mini-reunion. Let Ellen or Gail know if you would like to help, and watch for details in the newsletter. In addition, the next class meeting is scheduled for April 27, 1991, in Hanover during Class Officer's Weekend. All are invited and encouraged to attend. Remember, participating is the only real way to improve things. Again, watch the newsletter for details.
In other news, Dr. Alike Shapiro writes that he has finished his residency training in Emergency Medicine at U. Mass. Mike has been a flight physician on the New England Life Flight emergency medical helicopter for three years. He is now medical director and flight physician for Starf light Air Medical Service in Jamestown, N.Y. Keep up the good work!
Rahn Fleming has begun work on his master's degree in counseling psychology at Antioch New England Graduate School in Keene, N.H. Rahn, who is an instructor for Outward Bound, will be concentrating on substance abuse/addictions counseling.
Weyman Lundquist '52 writes that his son Weyman finished 11th overall in the National Boardsailing Championships this fall. Weyman, who started racing five years ago, finished sixth in one event, although I'm not sure which one. Unlike many of the competitors, he holds down a full-time job and windsurfs evenings and weekends. Pretty impressive!
Finally, our requisite bit of corporate America. Joseph Nicosia has been elected president and chief operating officer of A1 lenberg Cotton Company in Memphis. Joe was previously an executive vice president with A1 lenberg.
Please drop a line, or call with news. Cheers for now!
