Holiday greetings bring good updates, like the fascinating picture of Royand Ethelyn HedgesRather with sailboat backdrop. Bob and MaryEngelman, in their card, divided the clan into pictures of their five children with families that, as Bob confirmed, now include 17 grandchildren. That should put them at top of the grandparent list for now— unless JackCarney or Ted Germann have added several to their impressive totals.

In the February issue we listed our 12 Baker Library authors that made it to reunion. Here are 15 additional '34s whose books you'll find in Baker: Stan Abercrombie, Harlan Banks, George Engel, JackFeth, Joe Furst, Perry Gilbert, ElmerFulton, Herb Jackson, Dave Luck, LewisMeyer, Fritz Mosher, Lex Paradis, FredRath, Oscar Ruebhausen, and Bob Singleton. One of these authors, Dr. Perry W. Gilbert, recently received the Distinguished Fellow Award of the American Elasmobranch Society for his unique contribution to the study and public awareness of sharks. His dedication as researcher, educator, and marine laboratory director was lauded.

This will be travel time for '34s who haven't reached all their travel targets. Bill andMargaret Judd expect to see Greece and Turkey with a Swarthmore group in May. Tom and Jean Hicks planned to spend March in Portugal. Hairy Gilmore went out to Colorado to join Bob Engelman skiing the trails of Vail. And all the Florida residents with second homes are finding new ways to return to their summer homes.

The Dartmouth Club of Northern New Jersey sponsored another timely seminar. This year it was "Europe 1992." The Warsaw Pact countries certainly cooperated in building up excitement for this discussion. Jim and Mary Keeley, down from Poughkeepsie, also enjoyed it.

The first Alumni Fund campaign of the nineties is now in full swing, and we should remember the College looks to '34 as a record breaker. Last year Bob Engelman and Stan Smoyer were honored on our behalf with the prestigious Roger Wilde 1921 Reunion Award. No reunion-time goal this year, but let's kick the ball into a 56th-year record.
