Suzanne Virnelli is into skin. All of us are into skin—in fact we are all surl rounded by it. But Suzanne is not just into her own skin, she digs other people's too. While most of her classmates at Duke Medical School enjoyed exploring the inner cavities of cadavers, Suzanne grooved on the look, texture, and smell of the outer coating of an intact, naked cadaver. Some of you who know her better than I do might not be surprised to learn of her passion for skin. What you thought was just a kinky hobby became a profession. Suzanne is now a doctor of dermatology.

I always thought that doctors were supposed to cure people, but Duke must have a different teaching philosophy. Dr. Virnelli's first assignment was to infect people with poison ivy. I've heard of auto mechanics damaging cars so that they can repair them, but I didn't know that dermatologists were so desperate for work. Aren't there enough cases of diaper rash? Suzanne pays old ladies $75 dollars so that she can have the pleasure of infecting them with poison ivy. Eventually she plans to actually cure people. She will soon move to Boston to begin her residency and be with her fiance/fellow practitioner. She met Joannes Grevelink (he's from Holland, where his mom calls him Yope) when they were examining a patient's skin at Mass General. Cupid struck quickly; it wasn't long before they were examining each other's epidermis. They met last November and will be married in June.

Cupid was on a bit of a rampage at Duke. Tamar Buchsbaum, also a med student, is engaged to Stuart Green, a medical school resident. Greg Checani, also at Duke med, will do his residency in urology in San Francisco.

Leslie Thompson finished 19th in a recent World Cup cross-country ski race.

Jill Whitcomb is a second-year at Georgetown University Law School. She finished her first year at the top of her class and works with the law review. She will be in N.Y.C. this summer.

Liz Babb will marry Nino, a fellow First Boston investment banker, this summer. They have been maintaining a bi-coastal relationship for the last year or so (Liz in San Francisco, Nino in N.Y.C.). They will settle in New York.

Jessica Cohn is in real estate development in N.Y.C. with BPT Properties.

Bonnie Austin graduated from Notre Dame Law School last year. She works in Washington, D.C., for a law firm.

Jo Buford was married recently.
