Okay, it isn't as though I haven't warned you. If you classmates are not willing to divulge what you are doing with your lives, or at least rat on your friends, then I will have to start making up the news. In fact, this column has one mystery news item. If you can figure out which is fictional and you have the real scoop (now, this should be easy for at least the person about whom the news was made up, right?!), then send me the real story and I will set the record straight.
Reggie's in the news again! Besides being the recipient of the"Most Frequently Seen in the '76 Column" award, Reggie Williams also received an honorary doctor of laws from the College in June.
Just off the press is news of Sean Gorman's August wedding to Alison Pruyne (until recently, a teacher at St. Paul's School, in Concord, N.H.). Alison is a graduate of Wellesley, but is nonetheless courageously taking up residence in the Upper Valley, where Sean continues as assistant college counsel. Also in the area are Paul Hoisington and his wife, Linda. Paul is the director of technology at Spectra, where he has been since graduation. Spectra is a forerunner in the field of color printer technology. Word has it that Paul currently has eight patents under his belt. The Hoisingtons are living in Norwich with their two daughters.
Dave Magnus andJody Karp are still in New Mexico. The official listings say that they are employed by Albuquerque's V.A. Hospital and Public Service Company of New Mexico respectively. Though many remember Dave's swimming career and Jody's beautiful (and deep!) voice in the Distractions as undergraduates, have any of you heard of their recent pastime as New Mexico's first synchronized swimming (and singing?) married team? They are making big news locally, and we hope to see them at the next Olympic Games!
Also in the limelight of late is George Jepson. George is the assistant majority leader in the Connecticut House of Rep- resentatives. The major issue confronting the session has been the co-sponsorship of pro-choice legislation. There have been some press leaks suggesting that George may be seeking a senate seat some time soon. Go for it, George, and keep us posted.
Mary Anna Sullivan and her husband, Joel Epstein '77, are living in Lowell, Mass., with their three children, Alix 7, Michael 4, and Kate 1. Mary Anna is a psychiatrist at the Lahey Clinic, consulting to the medical and surgical staff and is in her second term on the Lowell School Committee.
More Massachusetts news: A recent press release announced that Michael Roitman was one of three people to form the first Boston-based law firm dedicated to representing companies in major Chapter 11 bankruptcy reorganizations. Prior to forming the new firm called Cohn, Roitman and Kelakos, Michael was a lawyer with Fine and Ambrogne. He has also served as an assistant attorney general in Massachusetts. This was timely news, as just today I went to our Boston bank only to see FDIC representatives putting up the bankruptcy signs! This state is in a precarious position, but I dare say these New Englanders are survivors. Once, when E.B. White was driving across the state, he was inspired to write a letter:
"Dear Henry (David Thoreau): I thought of you the other afternoon as I was approaching Concord doing 50 on Route 62. That is a high speed at which to hold a philosopher in one's mind, but in this century we are a nimble bunch." E.B. White, June 1939.
