Thanks to infusion of dirt from Colleen and Libby, I can dispense with the customary assaults on your sensibilities. Colleen reports that she has settled into her new position as associate director of major gifts. She and her husband, Peter, live in an apartment adjoining a boys' dorm at Kimball Union Academy in Meriden Peter is Dean of Students there. Only the truly youngatheart could handle being houseparents to 55 male adolescents. Not surprisingly, Colleen and Peter have yet to experience a yearning for kids; their yellow lab Dewey completes the extended family
Joe Asch lives in Paris where he owns HCD Sari, a company that sells specialty medical needles. HCD exports to over 20 countries. Joe boasts that he has never practiced law since graduating from Yale, though he experienced a similar grind during a stint at Bain & Company. Joe is feverishly looking for a wife, so I sent ham Beth Blatt's number at the sushi bar.
If Beth has left town, Joe should give PhilCoffin a call; after over a decade of Herculean efforts, Phil found a match for Dave Hall. Apparently, Phil, an executive recruiter, was trying to find a position for Stephanie Ulrich (Middlebury '85), but she ended up settling for a blind date with Dave. Stephanie is pursuing an M.B.A. in Lausanne, Switzerland, and Dave, a vice president of the Chicago Board Options Exchange, is in charge of European business development i.e. he spends two weeks per quarter courting Stephanie en Suisse.
Steve Dorves won a runoff election for a seat on the Roswell, Georgia (population 50,000) City Council last year, defeating a 24- year incumbent. "Unfortunately," he writes, "I still have to practice law for a living."
So too does TJ. Crane, a corporate partner in a Southern California firm. T.j. and Ellen spend a fair number of non-billables tending to their three sons, ages 3, 5, and 7. TJ. coaches two little league teams, so I'm sure the number of rug rats with ulcers has increased dramatically in Orange County.
Victorio and Diane Hoskins (MIT '79) are also living the good life in the land of Porsches and Vuarnets. He is a development specialist in the commercial and retail development division of the City of Long Beach.
Lee Rogge Wolff is living in New Mexico with her husband, SSG Robert Wolff (USAF) and their two-year-old son. Lee urges all mystery classmates to "at least confirm that they're alive." Amen.
Cliff Freeman & Partners in New York has announced that Don Austern has been promoted to vice president and copywriter.
Recent births . . . Howard Hyde andNancy Paull are the proud parents of Emma Catherine, born on December 10,1990. Nealand Virginia Luppescu report the birth of Gregory on January 7. And I think DuffHorton was born at some point. But we can debate that at our mini-reunion (Top of the Hop) on October 26.
