Late again, and with no excuse other than lack of time. So here goes ...
Our most interesting letter comes from Marianne Kemp who sent us a postcard from someplace with Cyrillic as their main form of communication (I think it was Kazakhstan). Following the well-trod postgraduate pursuit of money and power, Marianne has been studying Uzbek and doing dissertation research at Tashkent State University in Uzbekistan. From there of course it's just a short leap over to manager of the Nabisco account at BBD &0 in New York... actually Marianne will be finishing up her Ph.D. at the University of Chicago in Near Eastern languages and civilizations.
On a roll with unconventional alums, I give you Anne Northrop Connor. Anne just returned from two years of horseback riding, mountain climbing, and skiing in Taos, N.M. Well, OK, she did also get her master's, but now she's working as an alumni director for Marlboro College in Jamaica! Alright, alright, Jamaica, Vt., but a class secretary can dream, can't he?
OK, how about this one: Shirley Idelson has been appointed director of religious activities and chaplaincy services at Vassar College. Shirley was ordained as a rabbi in May by the Hebrew Union College-Jewish Institute of Religion, having completed her master of arts degree in Hebrew letters at the school in 1989.
I put in a call to Lisa Zaslow who wants to know what the hell happened to Sally Strathers's career, and who counseled her that the comeback trail is paved with commercials for a correspondence school? We miss you Gloria! Lisa also gave me the low-down on a few classmates:
Patty Milon has joined the ranks of the landed by purchasing a house in Arlington (complete with a pong table in the basement no lie!). Ellen Shapiro took the bar exam at the Javits Convention Center in N.Y.C. with about ten thousand other fledgling lawyers. Pat Hoeg's due to tie the knot this December 21 in Westchester. Dan Heyman got his master's in fine arts from U. Penn. MikeSmith, who worked for the CIA for two years before joining the Pinkerton Agency, has started his own firm specializing in environmental
investigations (politically correct snooping? Welcome to the '90s). Robert Gordon and Rich Lindahl both received their M.B.A.s from the Darden School at the University of Virginia last May. Graduating with them was Tracy PetersonEriksson, who got her M.D. from UVA's School of Medicine.
Having graduated from Syracuse with a law degree and worked at Gadsby and Hannah in Boston, Tim Coughlin joined the law firm of Devine, Millimet, and Branch as an associate. He will be concentrating mostly on commercial litigation and real-estate law.
So that's about it. . . sorry about the short length, but I blame you all for not writing. You think it's fun having to write a column from press releases? Well, ,do you?
