"Keep tie troops informed; telling them 'what, how, and why' builds their confidence." Colonel David Hack-worth, About Face So here's the news. There have been several more wedding bells in our midst lately. The San Francisco Chronicle's "Social Scene" column on July 24 noted one this way: "Beau Giannini and Caroline Sarda, a graduate business student at the University of California at Berkeley, are engaged he proposed to her at 3 a.m. Saturday in the lobby of the Plaza Hotel in New York; they had flown east to attend a wedding. Beau has his own business called Prime Time Marketing, and his mother, Mary Lou Giannini, is his partner. He's also just been named to the Bachelor's board, but he won't have to resign until he and Caroline get married next June." Also making the paper recently (New York Times) was Patricia MaeDoykos. The headline went this way, "David Duquette Jr. Weds Miss Doykos." Patty began Ph.D. studies in German literature in September at New York University. Her bridegroom graduated from Princeton and received a law degree from Virginia. The couple met at Andover.

lain Smith graduated from USC medical school last June and is continuing his studies in Internal Medicine. He will be working in Los Angeles but unfortunately, now that lain is a doctor, his friend "Haji" has been relegated to the closet. Seems that lain used to drive around L.A. with the skull from his cadaver (Haji) facing out the back window of his car. Got him a lot of dates, too.

Martin Kryska graduated from Thayer last June, receiving a master of engineering degree. Russ Aney received his M.B.A. from Darden last June and is now working as a financial analyst for IBM in Armonk. SuzanneVirnelli Grevelink finished up her internship in medicine last summer and is now a dermatologist, as is her husband, Joop Grevelink. The couple live in Arlington, Mass. Susan Burnley was reportedly married last year and left for a six-month honeymoon.

Chris Hollinger works in Los Angeles as a labor lawyer for O'Melviney and Meyers. This after having clerked for a judge in Michigan. Although he is working long hours, Chris has managed to excel at a few "extra-curricular" activities since graduating from the Big Green. Among those he likes to discuss are his trip to Graceland, his visit to Jim and Tammy Faye Baker's amusement park (which he highly recommends), and his successful finish in a bowling tournament in St. Louis.

Caroline Diamond was married last July before a small throng of 450 friends. JohnPaterson was married to Samantha Loomis in July as well, out on Cape Cod. Among the guests were Diarmuid O'Connell, MarkLamarre, John and Jenn (Culliton) Paul,Todd Canty, and Alicia Macri. John now works for People magazine.

I was recently reading an issue of Manhattan Sports magazine and noticed an article on roller-blading written by none other than our very own Paul Hochman. The byline notes that Paul skied for Dartmouth, practiced on roller blades, and now is a free-lance writer in Manhattan.
