T.V. weather forecasters give viewers a short-range forecast and also a long-range forecast. Our short-range forecast tells us that our minireunion September 27-28, 1991, will feature a panel of several Dartmouth students, probably' 37 grandchildren, and our new '37 scholar, John Davies '94, at the dinner at the DOC House on Friday evening. We have been reading about Dartmouth in the Wall Street Journal and the New York Times; now come to our mini and learn about Dartmouth today from the students and ask them the questions which concern you.

John Davies '94 has a wide range of intellectual interests: an apprenticeship in architecture, a term in Leningrad, organic chemistry, engineering, and he is thinking of majoring in history or government.

For our long-range forecast, the chairman of the 55th Reunion, Russ Stearns, gives us the exciting news that the speaker at our class dinner June 16,1992, will be classmate ChickKoop, the retired Surgeon General of the United States. Mark your calendars for the 55th Reunion June 15-17, 1992.

Continuing education: The University of London has announced the granting of the degree of master of science in political geography by the London School of Economics and Political Science to R. Samuel Dillon Jr. Sam received the degree in May at the convocation held at the Royal Albert Hall. He has the distinction of being the oldest student to receive a graduate degree from LSE in the history of the school.

1937 had the largest delegation at the 1991 Class Officers Weekend April 26-27. One of the highlights of the luncheon meeting was the presentation of an award to Ben Doran for his accomplishments as class trip chairman for four years. Ben reports that 23 people have signed up for the class trip on the River Elbe October 5-17, 1991. Ben and Marge moved to their new home in mid-June at 15 Berrill Farms, P .O. Box 777, Hanover, NH 03755. For any information on the trip, call Ben at 603/643-8868. Due to our reunion next year, there will be no class trip in 1992.

Karl Furstenberg, the new director of admissions, spoke at a joint meeting of all officers on the admissions office challenges and problems. The consensus was he made an enlightening presentation.

A new class directory, class projects, alumni fund, 55th Reunion, class trips, 55th class gift, and treasurer's report were subjects discussed during a three-hour class meeting Saturday.

After the meeting, the following classmates, wives and widows enjoyed the hospitality of Beth and Jud Smith: the Bankarts,Berkowitzes, Dorans, Erdmans, Fenns,Jane Handrahan, Rachel Laughton,Milnes, McCoys, Tom Nast, Frank Robin,Rotches, and Stearnses.

The sad part of the weekend was the illness which struck our head agent, Alexander J.Mackenzie, early Saturday morning. Despite the excellent medical care given him at Mary Hitchcock, Alex died on Sunday, April 28. All of us mourn our dedicated classmate and express our sympathy to Isabelle. President FranFenn said, "Alex died doing what he loved best: serving Dartmouth and the class of '37! He will be greatly missed."
