Several of you have finally realized that it is possible to be spared my padded ramblings and colorful (mis)interpretations of your lives in this column. Walter Hinton has sent along a newsy letter which is presented here in lieu of the above:

"I want to add only a few words to the fine start that Trip Dorkey gave us last October to the story on New York City lawyer classmates. Demmie Duckworth is with Carter Ledyard & Milburn in Manhattan, where he specializes in trusts and estates. He and his family live in Rye, N.Y., which is why we frequently happen upon one another in the train. When you see Stew Rosenblum at reunion, don't forget to ask him about his trip to China, which included some very off-the-beatentrack places, as well as foods not served at your local Szechuan. I understand from the grapevine that awhile back Tim Welch left law practice and joined the business side of Equitable Life, where he has been immoderately successful at selling large hunks of realestate portfolios on terms favorable to the company

Bruce Rich is a member of Weil Goschal & Manges, where I understand he divides his time between anti-trust and communicationslaw matters. Dick Gammis, a partner in Willkie Farr & Gallagher, specializes in complicated mortgage-bond financings, IDB's, and facilities financings. According to published reports, George Irving has left the United Nations Office of Legal Affairs to form the Manhattan firm of Irving & Lynch. RobHorner, who did international contracting work at Haight Gardner Poor & Havens here and in Paris, was last heard from while practicing with Goldstein & Manello in Boston.

I was with two Manhattan law firms Burlingham Underwood & Lord and Lovejoy Wasson & Ashton before my present job at Integrated Resources Inc. Integrated, although now a Chapter 11 debtor-in-possession, continues to be active in managing public and private investment partnership in real estate, cable TV; operating businesses and equipment leasing, the last-named of which is my area. I'm married to the former Carol Detwyler, an attorney at Bowater Inc., and we live in Stamford, Conn., with our children Kathryn 3 and Alex 3, one or both of whom you might see at reunion (if their parents are feeling energetic!)."

Many, many thanks, Walt. And now we press on with more fully-packaged reports, these being pulled from recent issues of Tuck Today:

J. Stephen Hoss joined the accounting firm of Urbach, Kahn & Werlin last year, and is based at their Burlington office. The company is among the nation's top 25, with revenues of over $24 million in 1989. Steve had been with Smith, Batchelder & Rugg since 1977, where he was elected managing partner in 1987. The Valley News shocked northern New England by revealing to all that Steve left Smith at al after a disagreement concerning his effort to centralize hiring and marketing efforts. Steve, we hope you have recovered sufficiendy from the angst of such a public laundering of this private affair. These reckless and unbridled invasions courtesy of the investigative press are deplorable... but since it's already been printed elsewhere I suppose we can feel perfectly free to give the matter wider exposure.

Finally, Bill Moyes has been involved in merging America's oldest living teenager, Dick Clark, with others into Unistar. Newly-formed Unistar becomes both the country's largest distributor of special radio programming and the largest satellite broadcasting network. Bill feels that this monstrous effort will all have been worthwhile if it only results in better coverage of Modesto's special trust as guardian of America's classic teen scene. So it goes.
