As I grow older it seems that the world becomes smaller and smaller and separate periods of my life begin to run together. Such was the case in May when, while in Providence, R.I., at the wedding of a good friend from business school, I heard my name called out in a hearty voice and turned to find Rob Harteveldt sticking out his hand. A bit startled to see him there, I listened as he explained that he sold bankruptcies and highyield (e.g. "junk") bonds at Bear Stearns in New York with a drinking buddy of my friend the groom. Never one to pass up a news-collecting opportunity, I wrapped an arm around his shoulder and led him to the bar, where the bartender at the staid country club was kind enough to lend me a golf pencil and a few scraps of paper for note-taking.

Rob told me that Ted Dardani is now living in Washington, D.C., where he works for the World Wildlife Fund. Ted recently returned from an "ape-chasing mission" in Africa, though my source was fuzzy on the details. Jamie Resor is also working for the Fund on the financial side, structuring debt to finance more ape-chasing missions, no doubt Not wanting to stop Rob's flow, I continued to write furiously as he told me John Buehler graduated Kellogg and now works in Chicago for the "advertising firm with the apples" (Leo Barnett?) and lives with wife Katherine; Doug Baird is working in the mergers and acquisitions department for Alex Brown in Baltimore; Marc Devorsetz also works at Bear Stearns in New York, selling something to someone. By this time I was running out of paper, and the pencil was a dull stub, but my notes also indicate that Bram Towbin is producing films in New York and that, according to Rob, his most recent work is "a study of everyday life which contrasts real life with film." (Remember, we both had had a few drinks by this time.)

I also heard from Sandy Piscatelli, who married Charles Gatt (Lafayette '85) on April 6. Sandy writes that she and Charlie are both residents at Rutgers University Hospital, she in general surgery, he in orthopedics. "As you can guess, that is where we met, since we both spend 99.9 percent of our time in the hospital." They live in Somerset, N.J. Bridesmaids at the wedding included Missy Terhune, who graduated Harvard Medical School and is now doing a residency in dermatology at the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor. Sandy also wrote that she has heard that JanetWilterdink is doing a neurology residency in Providence, R.I.

On a recent trip through Chicago I managed to hook up with two classmates: JohnKennedy decided to parlay his new Kellogg B. School degree into a position as an associate at the real-estate firm of LaSalle Partners. For the record, J.K. spent the four years after graduation at Winter Park ski resort outside of Denver, where he worked in and later headed up the public relations department (not to mention the free lift tickets he was able to secure for this writer and other classmates who passed through town). I also saw Tom Lubin, may recall an earlier column in which I reported that Tom had been in Burma during the overthrow of the government in 1988. Call it coincidence, but Tom was visiting Thailand during the military coup in February. For obvious reasons, I have suggested that he not visit me in Connecticut this fall. 'Til next we talk.
