Trying to run my own criminal defense practice is stressful. I get bad news all day: Joe's in jail, Sam confessed, Sue was .18 on the breath test. Therefore, would you please help me out and send some good news and information about yourself. I'm going to send some cards to help with the mailing, so there will be no excuses. Otherwise, I'll just write what I remember about what you did in college. And some of you may not want to see that in print!
I'm still trying to reach all the women in our class. Sally Oldenberg Adams reports that she and her husband, Jesse, have their own internal medicine practice in a small town called Red Bluff, Calif. Red Bluff is an agricultural and ranching community of about 12,000, three hours north of San Francisco. They practice together and share "call." Sally and Jesse met at Dartmouth Medical School. They have two children, William, who is three, Henry, who is one, and another child on the way in January.
I also spoke to Catherine Johnson who lives in Studio City, Calif., a suburb of Los Angeles. She is married to Edward Berenson, an associate professor of French history at UCLA. Catherine is a freelance writer with a Ph.D. in film. She has also been a contributer to several publications, including New Woman Magazine. She is presently writing a book for Simon and Schuster on leaving therapy. She expects the book to be out in the fall of 1987. She and Edward have been married approximately three years.
I also heard from Karen Jennings, who is about to begin her second year at the University of Illinois Medical School. She is presently living in Chicago. She previously was employed in arts administration and social work in Tulsa, Okla., where she lived for approximately ten years.
When I called Michelle Polich Lund, I killed two birds with one stone. She is married to Haynes W. Lund and they live in Minneapolis, Minn. Michelle and Haynes have two children, Darren, six, and Bryan, three. Michelle works for Control Data in computer-aided design and computer-aided manufacturing. She IS a software designer and has been with Control Data for approximately five years. Haynes is an architect with the downtown firm Sutter, Leach and Lindstrom, where he specializes in industrial and commercial design. They are volleyball players. Haynes has requested an update on Bryan O'Hanlon, who was living in Philadelphia, completing a course at Penn, and looking for a job in technology for developing nations. He also wants more information on Pete Moreau, who is teaching in Rhode Island, Fred Previc, who lives in San Antonio, and GreggKelley. We'll expect news from them for the next issue.
Peter Holden and his wife, Lynn, wrote to report the birth of their third child, Elaina Diane, who was born July 18. They also have a son, Peter, who is five, and a daughter, Natalie, who is four. Peter and Lynn have lived in New Jersey for about two years. Peter is a partner with a manufacturers' rep group called Harvid Sales. The group represents office products throughout the New York and New Jersey area.
Jeff Stewart uncovered an article in the April 28 issue of Business Week, international section, which quoted his SAE Fraternity Brother, Robert Grondine. Bob is a Japanese-speaking American attorney in Tokyo. The article discussed a bill which would loosen the present restrictions on United States lawyers practicing in foreign countries.
The love story for this column is TomGuidi. Tom got married July 11 in Beverly, Mass., to Karen Yarn. Karen was Tom's first floor tenant in his house in Salem, Mass. (They had a first floor/third floor romance.) They are presently living in Dan vers, Mass., and Tom is a proud father of eight-year-old son Jason. Tom is a partner in a 27-person law firm, Hemenway and Barnes, where he does corporate and real estate finance. In attendance at his wedding were JohnManning and his wife, Dorian. John is an 08-Gyn doctor in Trumbull, Conn. Also present were Steve Whiting and his wife, Patty. Steve is a partner in the law firm, Hewes, Beals, and Douglas in Portland, Maine. Tom also reports that he recently had a business deal with Craig Brown, who is a member of the law firm of Dougherty, Wallace, Pillsbury and Murphy, P.C. in Springfield, Mass. Please write.
