Dartmouth Alumni College this year brought our devoted students Len and jean Harrison back again to Hanover. They also found time for a good visit, which gave me an opportunity to show them Kendal. They find the College's summer program quite worthwhile.

Out of a car parked next to mine in Hanover steps John Engelman '68, who tells me that his parents, Bob and Mary Engelman, and all 29 members of the family gathered in Hilton Head, S.C., to celebrate Bob's 80th. That's quite a group to be the head of—but, as we all know, Bob can handle vital challenges.

Their home in Black Mountain, N.C., has proved to be a fine retirement place for Jim andTeal Ballard. They find it beautiful in all seasons. A son and daughter and their families were there to celebrate the Ballards's 50th last January.

Bob Brown, longtime head of Editor & Publisher, is still in charge and still vibrandy circles the globe to attend meetings in Brazil, Santo Domingo, Hungary, and Spain. He goes to the office daily when backin N.Y.C. He even has two grandsons working on his staff. I'll bet that's a '34 first.

One of those at the top of our scholastic ladder backin 1934, Don Allen, reports from Concord, Mass., that he still has busy days. Maybe one day he'll get back to Hanover and update us on how he merged Oxford and Harvard Law with his Senior Fellowship to chart his career.

Charlie Armes recently came into my picture in two fascinating ways. While walking in a nearby Hanover senior residence area I saw a smiling lady, and she asked what the '34 on my cap meant. When I told her, she said "my brother was in that class—Charles Armes!" Then, during my drive back from a family gathering on the Cape, I stopped in Brewster to tell Charlie and Ellie about the coincidence, and lo! I arrived just the day after they sold their house. They move now to Chambersburg, Pa., near their sons.

All is well with Dr. Robert Smith, who writes from Winchester, Mass. He is the only one of our four Bob Smiths still around.
