It is not too late to make the final decision to attend the Dartmouth class of 1965 50th Birthday celebration. We hope that you are counting your birthday cards, reading your mail carefully, and planning to celebrate in a special way. Making plans to be present are classmates Mike Lewis,Marc Efron, Jerry Putnam, BobMcCormaughey, Ted Bracken, Rick Davey,Peter Crockett, John Fletcher, DonBoardman, Tom Wise, and many others, including some of your best friends. Pick up the phone and try to "fish" some buddies to make the trip. When I called Clyde Dietz, he told me he plans to fly to Australia the week before just so that he can claim that he came the greatest distance.

What was happening in the world 50 years ago? George Gershwin's "Porgy and Bess" opened on Broadway in February 0f 1943,and Rogers and Hammerstein's "Oklahoma" opened in March. President Roosevelt froze wages and prices on April 8. The Allies had stopped Rommel in North Africa. On June 14, Flag Day, the Supreme Court ruled five to four that children could not be forced to salute the flag. During the summer Americans were planting victory gardens.

What is happening in Hanover this spring? Dartmouth students in the class of '96 who have a father from our class of'6s include the sons and daughters of Dave Bush (Matthew), Rick Finnerty (Pam), Ken Lieberthal (Geoff), Jim Scott (Meredith), CharlesCleaveland (Kimberlee), Jim Kingsdale (Andrew), Tom Campbell (Chris), RickMahoney (Kevin), Stu Lieber (Harris), JohnEhrenberg (Cassie), Skip Linton (Christian), and Hugh McGee (Christopher). This is the month that students for the class of '97 get their decision letters. Let us hope that all students will decide to take the road which is best for them.

From the winter issue of Dartmouth Medicine comes information that DeaneMosher is professor of medicine at the University of Wisconsin in Madison. Deane supervises an active lab of eight people who have made at least two "significant discoveries" in the cellular biology of protein synthesis. Deane was in Sweden for a sabbatical last fall, but he has returned to his duties in Madison. Concerning more personal and important matters, Kathy and Deane are now proud grandparents. From the rumors and wonders department come these questions. Does Bill Affolter really floss after every meal? Will PeteBaumbusch, Phil Bryan, Frank Costello,Steve Farrow, Bruce Grimm, JimHofrichter, Jim Howe, and Rich Block make the short trip to the 50th Birthday celebration? Did Dick Horton really ace a par four last summer? Does Eric Knox run marathons? Does Jack Macdonald read this column? If you know the answers to any of these questions, let us know.

Keep exercising and eat well. Happy Birthday to all who turn the corner this month.
