DECISIONS, DECISIONS. Thirty-five classmates say they "hope, but are uncertain" about attending the Fantastic 55 th Reunion June 15-17, 1992, in Hanover. Decide today to be present with your '37 classmates for a once-in-a-lifetime experience. After 55 years, we realize the influence exerted by Dartmouth on each one of us. Come back and reminisce with your classmates who made those four wonderful years a memorable era in your life.
Class Dinner Co-chairpersons Charlie andEllen Collis have planned an evening you'll never forget. President James O. Freedman will be present, and Chick Koop will be the principal speaker. Class President Fran Fenn reports that pledges for the class reunion gift, to be presented to the College at dinner, now amount to $207,000. Our goal is $280,000. The two-thirds of the class we have not heard from can put us over the top.
For those staying over on Wednesday evening of the reunion, Reunion Chairman Russ Stearns has reserved the Lyme Inn, a delightful place for an informal dinner. This is another good reason to join the "peerade" to the 55th Reunion.
Throughout the reunion period there will be tours of new facilities, panel discussions, Glee Club concerts, and Tuck, Medical School, and Thayer School luncheons and reunions.
Another classmate has made a significant gift to the Will to Excel Campaign that will provide unrestricted funds for Dartmouth's work. Lester and Delphine Bratton owned a farm in lowa that had been in the family for four generations. Managed recently by a tenant, the farm was never occupied nor run by the Brattons themselves, who decided to give it to the College to fund a life-income trust in the amount of $140,000. The trust offers them a substantial tax deduction as well as an assured income during both their lifetimes, and it provides for the principal to come to the College unrestricted after their deaths.
Frank and Twila Danzig have sent a signal that they will be present at the Reunion. Frank, will you bring your trumpet?
Jane Handrahan and Hank Pierce are planning athletic events for the 55 th, so bring your tennis rackets, golf clubs, hiking shoes, and croquet sticks.
