In Dartmouth's biweekly Vox we in Hanover learned that Dartmouth has been raised to AAA bond rating by Moody's and is one of 11 AAA educational institutions out of the 400 that Moody rates. The rating is based on an exhaustive study of the finances, facilities, systems, management, and the entire condition of each institution.
Stan and Barbara Smoyer warmed up for our mini by attending Alumni College in August. They found it a good and full week. Maybe you'd enjoy next August's session. Ruth Newman has moved from her bigger
home in Ormond Beach to Orlando, with family nearby, and would welcome any '34s who travel in that area. Edith Mosher likes her new residence in Lake Ridge, Va., a retirement community just south of Alexandria.
Herm and Sylvia Spitzer stopped by when visiting their daughter who lives in Lyme. They've decided it's time to say goodbye to Larchmont and make Palm Beach their base. Also had a good visit with Len and JeanHarrison in Hanover last spring. They are still holding onto their home in Cranbury, N.J.
In the spring issue of Sierra Heritage there was a fascinating article by John Ellis about the development of the first ski tow on California's Donner Pass. His wife, Evelyn, a native of California and provided background on this area where he was to encourage California's D.O.C. to purchase property for a ski lodge and downhill trails. His picture is in the magazine.
Roger Manternach has had to adjust to life without Clarice, but plans to stay in his West Simsbury, Conn., home with his son and family nearby. He says he'd find it difficult to leave the fine woodworking shop he's developed over the past 40 years.
Our updated class directory should now be in your hands. There are address listings for 265 classmates and 141 widows. There's also a geographical listing, based on your primary address, except in the cases of 12 classmates for whom Alumni Records showed a second address as their "mailing preference."
Hail to our coming 60th!
