At the Penn game BillLyons and his granddaughter were seated about 15 feet away from my party, but in the same row. Bill looked great after these 60-odd years. He said that he’ll continue living at the same address in Ocean City, N.J. Our team couldn’t get things going until very late in the game, mostly because of the excellent play of Penn in all departments, and specifically the plays of john Good willie’s grandson Patrick, a standout Penn linebacker.

Two weeks later I saw us defeat Bucknell handily. We have considerable talent, includ- ing a freshman running back, and seem to have made great progress in all aspects of team play since the Penn game. I planned to see the Cor- nell game during our mini-reunion, then, fate willing, the Princeton game in Hanover on November 20.

Following a lead from John H. Cham- berlin, I called Gabe Bromberg, who hadn’t been well. Perhaps some of you could give that great warrior from the gridiron trenches in our day a call, or drop a note to cheer him up. His number is (203) 243-2118.

A short note came from Jim Lyall enclos- ing an obit on Joe Choate from the September 28 New York Times. Joe did a magnificent job as the Impresario of the New York Boat Show from 1949 to 1969. The good news in Jim’s note was that he and his wife planned to be at our mini.

Also came a note from Margot Eld, Haw-ley Jaquith’s daughter, expressing apprecia- tion for my message of condolence from the class following Jake’s death on August 16.

Wally Thorson returned a “This is where I am in the cross section of existence” post- card which was included in an issue of the Alumni Magazine some time back. From his note I gathered that he had spent over four years in R&D of a very ambitious project, The Future is New England (FINE), to create 50,000 new jobs in, and to increase by five- fold the gross revenue of 600 small machine shops in the next five years. Go to it,Wally!
