“Glory to Dartmouth/ Loyal we sing.” The news just pours in; what a wonderful job. Nice card from Jim Cartmell with a sketch of his newly designed robogolf cart, which is being prototyped in Palm Bay. The club bed has a 45-degree reclining position to permit the clubs to rest between the many shots most of us take. The exterior is aerodynamically efficient for fast rounds, with that sort of Taurus “jelly bean” look most cars have today. Give Jim a call at 1 -800- 538-2278- lam positive he will give you a ter- rific discount.
Some sad news. Jim West passed on in October and was laid to rest near his family home in King of Prussia, Penn. Jim and LaV- erne moved to Jupiter, Fla., several years ago, and they joined us at the 1992 Reunion at Har- bour Ridge before Jim became ill. A special prayer for Jim, and for LaVeme, would be most appreciated.
What a program Janie and Bill Gilges have organized at Crested Butte for the March Sid Reunion! Here is the lineup:
•Wednesday, March 2; get this—“Early Arrival Pre-Party.” We all know what a post- party is, but a pre-party? All events are at the quaint (19505) Nordic Inn.
•March 3: cruising runs following by wine and cheese and hot tubs at the Nordic. “Best ski story” contest—lies will abound.
•March 4: special run for ’5 3 to ski the fresh powder before the lifts open, followed by breakfast and a guided tour of the mountain. Apres ski at the Nordic.
•March 5: ’53 downhill on the “Oh Be Joyful” run followed by a barbecue. Apres ski at the Grand Butte followed by the Paradise Sleigh Ride Dinner to a private on-the-hill warming house for the full treatment.
•March 6: free skiing. For those wishing to remain longer, the Nordic will continue the same special rates. About 12 couples are firm, and 40 seriously considering, as well as four from ’54. Call Bill and Janie at (913) 649- 9355 for all the details.
Fred Hitt reminded me that T had neglect- ed to include Bemie Sudikoff in the list of officers elected at reunion. Bernie, one of the most active leaders of our class, will serve as rice president for financial affairs. Thanks, Fred, and apologies to Bernie.
An October 3 Boston Globe article about the New Hampshire Supreme Court stressed the absence of political philosophy in the Court’s proceedings, where the focus is exclu- sively on issues of law. Justice Sherm Hor- ton and Justice Bill Johnson are two of the five members of that court. The class salutes two of our most distinguished classmates.
Only a ’5 3 could make this happen. Clark Brink, entrepreneur premiere and owner of a McDonald’s in Saratoga Springs (just one of his ventures), has received a board variance for certain signage to direct his customers into the restaurant, an exception granted only sparingly in that wonderfully conservative setting. To obtain clarity and safety in a com- plex intersection, and to avoid use of die gold- en arches, Clark instituted a speed bump/direc- tional sign combination to alert all those on Mac Attack that help is on the way. What a class!
