With the advent of autumn, '64s have learned to expect decisive Big Green victories over Holy Cross, beautiful foliage in the Upper Valley, houseparties weekend and, in recent years, my urgent pleas for more class news. You will be gratified to know that there are still some constants in the universe; the class news bag is empty. A card or a note from you with news about yourself or other '64s will be greatly appreciated, as will news from wives, parents, secretaries, and sweethearts of '64s. (Unless I receive some news in the near future, I'll be forced to reevaluate the policy of ignoring news about '64s from wardens, probation officers, irate creditors and ex-chickies of '64s.)
I am grateful to Gerry Dorros for his letter informing us of his whereabouts. Gerry writes that he will be entering the Army as a major in September, and will be practicing medicine in Frankfurt, Germany, in the field of perinatology, treating pregnant women who have medical problems which might compromise the development of healthy offspring. Gerry has completed a residency in internal medicine, and is almost finished with a residency in obstetrics and gynecology. During his training, he has had faculty appointments to the Harvard and Boston University Schools of Medicine.
Gerry is married to a lovely girl, Myra, and has two young sons. Myra was the roomate of Charmian Weber, (wife of Jon Weber, '64), at the University of North Carolina. Gerry informs us that Jon Weber has entered into private medical practice in Pittsfield, Mass., and that the Webers are parents of a beautiful little girl.
Fred Eidlin, who was last cited in this column in connection with his release from prison in Czechoslovakia where he was being held on suspicion of espionage, writes that he was married last December to Anne Boehringer in Toronto. Anne, a Wellesley grad with an M.A. in Russian, has been teaching English as a foreign language to Canadian immigrants. Fred has just been appointed lecturer in the department of political studies of the University of Guelph, which is located in a Hanover-sized town about 50 miles from Toronto.
Cheers are in order for the inimitable Slats.Sloane, who was awarded a Ph.D. by Johns Hopkins University in June. Cheers also to ChipWaite who was elected a principal in McKinsey & Co., an international management consultant firm. Chip has been with McKinsey since 1966, and has been working out of its Amsterdam office for the past two years. And cheers to BruceHookerman, who recently announced the opening of his office for the practice of dermatology in St. Ann, Missouri. A final round for Joel Deweese, who is now chief of staff at Bemidji Hospital in Minnesota.
Jack Kindergan writes that he and his charming wife Viki are the proud parents of their first chile Natasha Suzanne. The Kindergans have been living in Sydney, Australia, for the past year while. Jack has been working for Caltex Petroleum Corp. He has been with Caltex for four years, and has served as an international auditor for them in Bahrain, Hong Kong, Bangkok, and Seoul. The first '64 to visit Natasha was Bob Zoukowski, who spent two years in Sydney working for Caltex as an engineer. Jack reports that Bob and his vivacious wife have left Sydney for bigger and better things in Bahrain.
That's about it for the news bag. Tune in for nore war stories; soon to be featured (provider my spies can provide the information) will be detailed reports from '64 Bachelor Central files concerning the respective marriages this past summer of Bob "Humphrey" Cahners and Alex "The Greek" Varkas. Later.
