Jim Goldman has been named director of new business development for the division of Nabisco that makes Fleischmann's and Blue Bonnet margarine. Jim promises to revolutionize the business by introducing a new product, "I Can't Believe It's Not Margarine!" a whipped butter spread with all the calories and cholesterol of butter, but die satisfying taste of margarine. Look for it on your grocer's shelves.

With the election results in, Arkansas residents are stepping into the limelight. RobRough, who lives in Little Rock, wrote to announce the birth of Jamieson MacKintosh on September 11,1992. Rob writes that "Sleep is still as rare as a Razorback football victory. I am not sure that we will have any more [I think he means kids] since that would require zone coverage and we are having enough trouble with single man-to-man." (Perhaps Rob should consult the Mike Ditka school of parenting. Scream at the kid until you have a heart attack.) When he learned of Rob's news, then-candidate Bill Clinton issued a press release touting Arkansas as "the state with the highest birth rate." Rob is chief financial officer of Harvest Foods, where he spent the last two years restructuring that company's debt.

Rob reports that Sean Wilson lives in Massachusetts and works for General Electric. Sean and his wife, Kathy, just had a baby girl, Page. They now have two boys and two girls.

Sleep appears to be on the minds of most new parents. But for Betsy and MikeCarothers the situation has reversed itself. After only two months, their son Charlie is already complaining that he can't sleep because of all the noise his father makes.

Exciting news from the Granite State. SteveCamerino was recently named to the state's Metric Advisory Board by Governor Judd Gregg. The council will supervise the conversion of all of New Hampshire's products to the metric system. This could revolutionize golf. What club do you use from 150 meters? Steve is a partner in McClane, Graf, Raulerson & Middleton, Pa., one of New Hampshire's largest law firms.

Bill Semmes wrote to let me know that he is a realtor with Coldwell Banker in Ann Arbor, Mich. Bill says that if you're moving your family or business anywhere, he likes to help. Referrals from anywhere to anywhere are great, especially if it gives him a chance to talk to an old friend. Is it just me, or is this column veering off in the wrong direction? Bill sent along his phone number, but you'll have to look it up. Someone's got to draw the line against unfettered commercialism.

When last we left him, Jim Wilson was leaping off a third-story balcony during a New York Public Library gala. Ten years later, Jim seems to have settled down. He and his wife, Judy, live in Manhattan with their daughter Molly. Jim is with Jacobson Partners, a New York leveraged buy-out firm. Jim's avocation is sailing. In fact, he loves it so much that Judy often describes him as "away at sea."

Talk about an exciting job. Adrian Barrett, product manager of active, weekend wear and blouses at Frederick Atkins, travels four times a year to Pakistan, India, Singapore, Hong Kong, and Taiwan. In India she witnessed a groom arrive at his wedding on an elephant, bearing full headdress. In Pakistan she was surrounded by children who mistook her for an exotic movie star. Adrian recently moved to the West Side of Manhattan from her apartment above the Carlow East on Lexington Avenue in New York City, where she had resided for a decade.
