My month-late birthday card honoring Johnny Marsh's 85th earned me a quick response and a four month early card for my upcoming 85th, with, best of all, a letter. At 85 he can still lie flat on his stomach with his hands by his shoulders and, at the word GO, push up and get to a standing position in 2.8 seconds without his joints cracking. (Though lacking a stopwatch, I can still perform the same maneuver. Of course, I'm only 84.)

John mentions Maplecliff Drive (Lakewood, Ohio), where we became neighbors in 1916, beginning 77 years as grammar, high school, and college classmates. "I'm glad," he adds, "that I don't have to renew my driver's license until I'm 90."

Of seven in Lakewood's original 1930 delegation, four of us survive: Hub Christman,Hank Odbert, John, and I—a pretty good percentage. A Christmas card from Hank says, "Hope to write more in a letter, later." So I hope to report on the Odberts and also check up on the Christmans.

Among the holiday notes was one from Ginny Chilcote wishing she could join the Widmayers and the Wolfe during their visits in the Tucson-Green Valley area. She would particularly like to see Green Valley, of which, you remember, Lee was one of the founding fathers. Having been away on a cruise during last year's mini-reunion, she's looking forward to this year's.

A note also from Dot and Ev Low says, "Always great to see you in Woodstock," meaning, perhaps, that they'll be there too. And from Ted Wolf, word that Betty fell and hurt her back. Even though "she had to go on the injured reserve as a Redskin linebacker," they still expect to get to Tucson.

Finally, many of you will be surprised, maybe even pleased, to hear that I've remarried. I can tell you that she's beautiful, complicated, and rather demanding, but I hope to live long enough to learn all about her. Her name is 386SX (for sex?), and those of you who are already computer-literate will recognize that, at last, I've joined the Twentieth Century.
