I recently found a couple of misfiled letters. After dusting diem off, I found that they make quite serviceable column-copy—presented with apologies for the delay. We also received two e-mail submissions this month. We are truly in a new era.

Archival letter #1: Scott Borek has a new (old) job as head hockey coach at Colby College in Waterville, Maine. Scott is not only pursuing the thing he loves, but the job requires him to work on his long putt as well, as he is also expected to teach golf. Scott notes that the stream of weddings that serve as de facto mini-reunions has slowed, replaced by increasing numbers of birth announcementsfor example, Mark and Sally Goggins's third and Pete and Julie Anastos's second.

Scott seems to be adapting well to life in Maine, and he and his wife, Cheryl, find life there conducive to entertaining, so invite yourself up for the weekend by writing them at 43 Morrill Ave, Waterville, ME 04901. Or call (207) 877-7408. Scott ended his letter in a particularly enchanting way: "Hope you and your wife are coping nicely with growing up."

Archival letter #2: Prof. Tim Scherman reports he is (was) nearly done with his Ph.D. thesis in English at Duke. He sadly writes of missing a chance to go fly fishing in Montana with Rich Stoddard and Keith Goggin, especially after they reported catching a "hundred fish in three days, some over ten pounds on barbless hooks." I'm no fisherman, but Tim translates this as "five or six fish each, the biggest a two-pound chub." Tim reports that JonLewis, former rock climber, parachuter, bungee jumper, and oil rig daredevil, is now pursuing a tax-law degree in Minneapolis.

E-mail #1: Jill Morgan finally confessed electronically to her August wedding to Doug Keene '86, after eight and a half years of dating. The wedding was in the Bema, the reception at the Hanover Inn. Attendees included Susannah Gaylord (lives in Virginia, communications director for the International Dairy Association) and Barbara Codding (M.B.A. at NYU, works at Boa in N.Y.C.). Jill and hubby live in Palo Alto, where she works in the Stanford Development office, managing reunion fundraising. Jill lives across the street from Lauren Sonstrom (high-tech PR) and David Rosen (Mercer me SPA). Jill also sees Martin Steffer and Pete Regan "regularly at Squaw Valley," and both of them are reported to be getting advanced degrees from Stanford. Also rumored at Stanford (Law) is Janet Coit. Jill, you are promoted to assistant class secretary for your volumetric contribution.

Jeff Sidell, the genius behind Class Notes e-mail, zapped me a spelling correction (his name has only one"d") and some more news. While checking out the Ph.D. program at "UC Berserk-ely" he saw Suzanne Burnham, who's working for Advent Software, and TerryParker, who previously founded a company with Scott Liebman's brother but now is decompressing from two years of 100-hour weeks and figuring out what to do next.

Finally, my fellow class scribe is too shy to mention his latest project, so I will. Mark is making a movie-of-the-week to air on or about June 21 on Fox. Asci-fi adaptation of the classic Hitchcock movie "Lifeboat," it is called, appropriately, "Lifepod." Ron Silver directs, Robert Loggia stars, and Mark produces. (Wow!) I had the luck to be in L.A. recently and met Mark at "the studio." I was pretty impressed. The dazzling starscape, the working model of the "mother ship" and the lifepods (which look a little like beer cans) were roaaaaaaay cool. Cooler still was the deference with which Mark was treated by the grips, gaffers, best boys, assorted scurrying production assistants, and Candy, the studio assistant. I felt in the presence of greatness. I was also insanely jealous. I will refrain, though, from providing assorted telling details about the life of a young Hollywood hotshot. (Hint: think "The Player").

Keep watching the skies.
