Like Mark Twain's death, reports of my "remarriage" were greatly exaggerated. Back in April, it seemed a subtle way to boast that, at 85, I had bought a computer. My tongue-in-cheek should have been bitten off. Nevertheless, I did appreciate congratulatory notes received from several of you. Alumni News Editor Heather Killebrew '89, to whom computers are daily bread, commented, appropriately, "Er, congratulations, I guess." Since there were no June or July issues, this is my first opportunity to say thanks and

Several of our diminishing tribe have appeared in print recently. The May DAM had letters from our happily übiquitous Fran Horn and from Ted Seidman, who checks in all too rarely. Tucson's Arizona Daily Star quotes our prophet Gene Jay Seagle as predicting that "we'll get some cooling of our inflation fears." And a recent issue of Dartmouth Medicine says that Alan Leslie is a trustee of the Palm Springs Desert Museum, but is interested also in "clinging to this mortal coil." Exorthopaedic surgeon Bob Rix is now a woodcutter, with an acre of woodlot and a workshop where he repairs and canes chairs.

Recent days have been brightened by notes from Celie French, Hank Odbert, Gene Magenau, Bill Fenton, and two, plus a phone call, from the Mclnneses. All well. In fact, Milt and Blanche sounded better than they have in years. Bill Fenton also did a fine report on the May 7-8 Class Officers Weekend, much appreciated by those who couldn't attend. For me, Bill's report was augmented by excellent minutes of the Class Secretaries Association meeting, done by Heather Killebrew, "secretary of the secretaries."

Gene Magenau comments that, with his hearing problem, he got more from Bill's report than from the meetings. I'm sympathetic, having struggled for some years, not only to hear, but also to take the minutes during the class meeting. I'm eternally grateful to all those with written reports to backup what I hear, or don't hear notably, among others, Win Stone, Bill OBrion, Doris McClory, Liz Doherty, and Gene himself.

See you in Woodstock September 23-25.
