Our big news for the class is that Hanny Mason was presented with the prestigious Alumni Award at the recent Alumni Council meeting. He becomes the fifth member of our class to win such an award, joining Tom Schwarz, Joe Stevenson, George Southwick, and Tom Keller. Hanny was joined at the celebration by Boband June McDonald, Jack and Joan Hall,Dave and Ruth Orr, Randy Aires, Joe Stevenson, and Tom Schwarz. Congratulations to you, Hanny, from all of your class. You've been a stalwart and a hard worker, generous with both your time and money.
On the political front, David Thompson reports that the "Biliary" visit to Martha's Vineyard has catalized buyers into action and that he has been very busy working with people who have been looking for property for three or four years and have now decided to buy before the Democrats take over the Vineyard. David does a great job of quietly capturing the high-end real estate all over the Vineyard for our company, Land Vest Inc., and it's a pleasure to be working with a classmate.
I had the pleasure of talking widi an old dormmate, Jim Scott. Jim continues his cardiology practice in Hamilton, Ohio. He's finally getting smart and now has six physicians in his practice. The result is that he's taken up golf. The story is that after jumping fire hydrants across Washington with Jack Hall a few years ago, he had to have a fusion in his back. Since the fusion, though, he's good as new, and even a good golf swing doesn't hurt. Jim's also dusting off the clarinet from Barbary Coast days and had a couple of gigs at Christmas time.
Carl Hoagland, with whom I have enjoyed bird hunting days, has experienced a drop in the partridge population but still enjoys those days in the field. Maybe a reader can suggest some good new covers to us. Carl continues his brokerage and investment-banking chores with Cowen and Co., specializing in the hightech and medical fields.
Homecoming was quite a special weekend last fall. Dartmouth's come-from-behind victory was memorable, and a great group of classmates had a fine time. Howie and WendyKeller certainly took action on those good feelings. They report that they have reserved rooms at the Hanover Inn for Homecoming Weekend for the next six years. I wonder what their plan is after six? Howie has just received the golden handshake from A.I.G. He and Wendy will now be able to be together on the Cape after having a commuter marriage for the last few years.
