The worthy Dick Lea-man, he of Scott Paper fame, is now our class's sec I ond representative on the Alumni Council. BillBehrens has sent in some fine reports on the AC meetings, but we have yet to hear from Dick. Let's hear your impressions, Mr. Leaman, and we expect to see you at the 40th for sure! Clem and Ann Malin were in Paris this summer and had dinner with Paul and Anne Marie Berry (UNESCO), and Jim and Marie Christine Periere. (You remember Marie Christine from the 25th Reunion.) Jim and MC have a chateau in Aubevoye, where they raise 750 varieties of roses. One variety is so unusual it will be named after Jim, a singular honor in the rosegrowing community. Look for the James L. Pereire rose, a deep pink variety, in your garden catalog next spring.
Boodge Erwin celebrated his 60th this summer at a grand soiree in Hudson, Ohio, where he delighted friends and family as he circled the dance floor with a 300-pound gorilla. Maybe Flint can publish the picture, but I ask you to use your imagination.
Hal Gordon had the misfortune to take Tom Rosenwald (fohn's brother) fishing at Lake Ontario in September, where they caught three rather small smoked salmon. Rumor has it that they used capers and onions as bait. Hal's son Matt '98 was along to make sure that neither of the anglers got hurt.
I can personally report on Mckenna, Rosie, Keare, and Len Clark since they all had occasion to crew on my wooden catboat Blue Goose during the summer. All proved wor- thy of at least seaman-apprentice rating except Keare, who let the gaff run free when dousing sail and almost put it through the bottom of the boat. When not at sea, he and Ginger are operating out of their Cape Cod house and looking for a place to stay in the Boston area, where Doug has managed to find another government-sponsored economic position with lots of foreign travel.
Sorry to finish on a sad note, but I must convey the news that our classmate Langdon"Ding" Harris perished in a tragic accident in Philadelphia. Details will be reported when known.
