We heard from Bob Nuffort about the passing of AlMeyer on October 14 at the Methodist Hospital in Minneapolis. (Obituary in this issue). On the more positive side, Bob added that he and Miriam have the 55th Reunion on their calendar, which is good news.

We had a fine letter from Howie Snyder in Chico, Calif., who describes himself as an avid reader of '39 Out as well as the Class Notes. Howie retired from education administration and teaching and for the following six years developed a five-acre mini-ranch. He cut his own trees to make room for a house and garden, built a garage and tool shed, and put in a deck on a very private side hill. He did all the work himself. He returned to Chico, to a senior development, in 1989 when Jean, his wife of 50 years, was suffering from Parkinson's disease. As Jean retrogressed, he spent more and more time caring for her until she passed away this past September. Howie says he would like to make the 55th in Hanover on June 13, if he can possibly manage it.

Bill and Robilee Tomkins had a firsttime trip to Nova Scotia in late September. They said it was really too late in the season for the maximum scenic views, and the weather was iffy.

Jim Donovan writes that he made his annual trip to La Jolla, Calif., in October. He visited with some marine comrades as well as some Big Green contacts. He wrote of a fine evening with Jim and Ellen Parks, as well as a meeting with Dr. John Steel '54, a former Trustee of the College who is tooling up to run for the 49th congressional district in California on the Republican ticket.

We would remind you once again,to make your reunion plans known to Bill McCarthy or Herb Hirschland if you have not already done so. It is essential that they get a solid head count so they can set the reunion tax. Our 55 th convenes on June 13, and it promises to be dandy.

May we also remind you of the scheme to add to the growing 1939 Scholarship Fund as one means of satisfying your contribution to the College's Will to Excel campaign. Write when you have news. Our basket is

empty, and Peter Cardozo can always use the word.
