Ahh, March in beautiful Hanover... When we were students, the College was nice enough to shelter us from the wonders of March by letting us leave for Spring Break. Now that I am officially a resident of the Upper Valley, I can tell you that March is pretty much no fun. If it isn't frigid and snowing, then everything is melting. Can you remember all of that wonderful MUD that forms at the beginning of spring term and hangs around until the end of May? It's almost as much fun as the 18 layers of ice that have been on the sidewalks since December. I guess that I am through complaining for now (I really do love this place—really!), so we should move onto something more productive.

I do not have an overwhelming amount of information to report on our classmates this month, so let's put off the news and start with some reunion-related updates. The first item actually has to do more with our Tenth Reunion than it does with the upcoming Fifth. The class of '89 is looking for a few good people (some- where between 20 and 25) to lead us during the next five years. The nominating committee is now accepting nominations for those who might be interested in serving on our executive committee until the Tenth Reunion. If you would like to find out more about what being on the executive committee involves, please contact me at my office, (603) 646-3208, or at home, (603) 448-3061. The class officers president, secretary, Alumni Council representative, treasurer, etc.—will be elected by the members of the executive committee during reunion. More details on all of this to follow.

Speaking of class officers, why don't you all give Russell Wolff a break and just send a check to the College today? Just think, if you make a pledge to die Alumni Fund NOW, Russell and I won't keep bugging you about it. If you procrastinate—who knows? We could show up at your house in the middle of the night to askyou for money. The Reunion Giving Drive is doing great, and we are well on our way to a HUGE total. However, we still need a lot of help to get to the Fifth- Reunion record of $109,000. So call (800) 228- 1769 today, and we will leave you alone!

How about some news from classmates? Susan Allen called me from Raleigh-Durham, N.C., a while back to let me know that it's much warmer there than it is in Hanover. Sue is working on her M.B.A. at Duke, and she told me that she suffered some serious leg injuries recently while playing football (I just print what they tell me). Tom Naughton called from New Jersey to tell me that he has been accepted at Tuck and will start next fall. I saw Tom's fellow Russell-Sager, MikeSaperstein, not long ago at a party in Boston. "The Bod" is living in the Bay Area and work- ing for a computer and video games firm. Sounds like a great job! Jim "Psycho" Knopf and Les Morant also made recent appearances in Boston. Les reported that Mike VanLeesten is getting married, but he did not provide any more details than that. Well, as I said at the top of this column, it has been an extremely slow month for news, but I will improve upon that next month.
