Well, the class of'89 Fifth Reunion propaganda campaign is paying off. So far, a record number of responses to the reunion mailings have been returned to Pam Peedin, our esteemed chair. More than 425 classmates have expressed interest in attending the reunion thus far that's more responses than any other class has ever received at this point in the year! That's great, but I want to know if our other 580 classmates are coming. When you receive your next Reunion mailing, PLEASE mail in your response to let us know that you will be coming. I want to see all ofyou in Hanover in June!
One last little tidbit on the reunion if any of you are interested in helping to organize a mini-reunion for any kind of group (a cultural or religious organization, a sports team, a senior society, a Greek organization, etc.), just call Pam at (413) 498-0138 or me at (603) 448-3061.
On to news from around the globe. Let's start close to home (my home, anyway) with John Shaw. John is in his first year at Tuck, and he says it is "a TON of work." He also tells me that he and his wife, Elizabeth, are expecting a baby in the middle of August. Congratulations! Marty Mooney called me to let me know that he did remember seeing me at the '88 Fifth Reunion. He is teaching English at the Hill School in Pennsylvania, where he is also coaching football and lacrosse. He told me that he was also wondering what RayPrado is up to. Well, it is a good thing that Ray called me yesterday with an update. His work as a storyboard artist for films has had him on location all over the place in the past year. He has worked on "Geronimo," "Major League 2," and "Bound by Honor" so go see them (or rent them). Ray said that he sees Jilann Spitzmiller and Hank Rogerson fairly often in L.A. Both are doing work on films, and Hank is doing some acting as well. Rumor has it that Lara Porzak is also out in L.A.
I saw Maurits van der Veen's name in the Boston Globe some time ago with some impressive road-racing times. I have heard that he is in a graduate program at Harvard and running for the Boston Athletic Association.
Speaking of running, Tom Paskus is at the University of Virginia working on his Ph.D. and trying to keep his running down to a minimum. Kathy Bender called me from New York, where she is a first-year associate at a law firm. A fellow admissions officer told me that Vanessa Baird is also in New York and that she's married.
Well, that's just about all of the news that I can produce for now—please give me a call if you have some good juicy gossip that you want to see in this column! Since my message to Ray Prado worked in the last issue of the magazine, let's try that same tactic again. I would love to hear from everybody, but let's see if we can especially find out how KatyBeierle, Mary Butler, Lisa Collins, JudDutrisac, Colette Ellis, Erie Moore, LarryMiller, Patrick Munoz, and Mike vanLeesten are doing. Why did I choose those nine? I don't know, I just did. So call me if you know anything about them! See you all in June.
