In just one month '89s will gather for a three-day "love fest" (as Jamie Kershaw called it) in Hanover. PamPeedin and her merry band of reunion planners are putting the finishing touches on what is sure to be a great weekend. When you get to Hanover, be sure to thank Pam, ChrisGoulard, Ben and Susan Kaufman, Kristen Von Summer, Pier Kooistra, Bill Dean,Taraneh Azar, Suzanne Murphy, and all the others who have helped plan the reunion (I apologize if I have left anyone off that list.) While we are on the subject of the reunion, I will make one last plug for you to contribute to the Dartmouth Alumni Fund and the Class Reunion Gift. We are in the very final stages of our Reunion Giving Drive, and the record of $109,000 is well within our reach. If you have not yet made your donation to the Alumni Fund, please do it today!
On to the news: Lionel Harris sent me a great letter a while back, but I have unfortunately misplaced it. I do remember that Lionel is at Wharton and that he was looking forward to seeing his name in print. Katie Beierle called from Seattle, where she is working for a small firm that does something with art and CD-ROM. It was much too confusing for me to understand, but it sounds like fun! AmyBeard-Vachris called me the same day that Katy did to say hi and to plug one of her students for admission to our wonderful alma mater. Amy is teaching at Blair Academy in New Jersey. I finally bumped into GeoffGilmartin a couple of months back at Murphy's Pub in Hanover (that's Bentley's to all of you folks who have not been back in a while). Geoff seems to be enjoying his first year at Dartmouth Medical School, if that is at all possible. I do not have any news to report on Ed Barker, but he and I played phone tag for the better part of February and March sorry about that, Ed!
Did you all know that Heather Killebrew is one of the people responsible for bringing you this great magazine? I hardly ever see Heather, but every month I send our class notes over to her office for editing. If she doesn't edit out what I am writing about her now, she will finally get some credit for the work she does. Thanks Heather! [Aw, shucks. HK]
While I am on the subject of offering thanks, I would like to recognize those people who have served as our class officers for the past five years. There are a number of people who have helped our class in a variety of ways, but I would like to mention a few for their consistent, long-term efforts to keep the class together. Jamie Kershaw's wonderful newsletters have taken a tremendous amount of work to produce, and I would like to thank both him and Bonnie An (who served as newsletter editor during our first year out) for entertaining us and for keeping us up-to-date. Carrie Luft's incredible wit graced this space for our first four years after graduation. Having written this column for the past few months, I can now appreciate what an outstanding job Carrie did with each column that she wrote Thanks Carrie! KerryKisiel has had one of the toughest jobs for these past five years. As class treasurer Kerry has made her mark with consistent effort and great organization. Finally, many thanks to Russell Wolff who has helped make our class one of the most successful young classes when it come to fundraising. Russell's "unique" fundraising strategies have now become a model for other recently graduated classes.
That's all for now Let the wild rumpusbegin again!
