The Dudleys, Nighswanders, and Ripleys represented the class at a beautiful memorial service for Bob Monahan at the White Church in Hanover. The church was filled with family, friends, and associates. Boston and local papers recounted the events in Bob's life. He served the College as forester, and New Hampshire as legislator and senate majority leader. He sponsored many conservation laws and deserves credit for the purple finch being chosen as state bird. Bob helped re-establish the Mount Washington Observatory and spent the winter of '32-'33 on the summit. He was at home with John Dickey and others hosting President Eisenhower at the College Grant. Bob played a role in establishing Lebanon Airport and the Connecticut River Watershed, also in various legislation on forestry and pollution control. We treasured him as an avid clipper of articles which he shared with us, and we wish others would follow that example.
As we remember classmates with that special "something," Ellie Cavanaugh comes to mind. He started his career in business and banking, and then in 1933 decided to study medicine, which required summer school, an additional year at Dartmouth, and two years at Dartmouth Medical School. He received his M.D. from Columbia in 1938. With a wife and two small children at the time, it must have taken a lot of family teamwork.
Twenty-nine seems to be on course for a generous gift to the College during this 65th Reunion year. These are the last Class Notes before we all gather here in Hanover at reunion time, and just a last reminder of certain obligations owed for a wonderful college experience.
Rip changed the last line of this verse for me to quote: Some stuff I write is out of sight Some isn't worth the ink Some is a flight of pure delight Some, like the sunset, sink.

It's all the years of Dartmouths past. It's all the debts of love we owe. Charlie Dudley 79 1929's 65th June 10-l2
