During the last weekend of March,Monk and Marsha Bancroft and Bob andAnne Millmore hosted a group of intrepid skiers at Mad River Glen. Besides the hosts, the group included Clark andHappy Griffiths, Bob Burton and daughters Jody and Jennifer, Chris Wren, MarthaPerkins, and Dave and Sue Jenkins. Clark and Happy told about their recent trip out West, where they skied 11 different areas. Bob and Anne were back from a good week at Steamboat Springs with son Dana. Monk and Marsha hit it right for a week at Alta, with six feet of new snowfall while they were there. Bob Burton hopes to be married in the near future. Chris Wren had not been on alpine skis in about eight years. He now has an "inside job" at The New York Times after many years of risking his butt all over the world. He is writing a novel about foreign correspondents could it be autobiographical? Dave Jenkins lives in Burlington, but commutes to Rutland, where he is a judge. He and Sue have a new puppy. Martha had to fill in for me as I was in Boston collecting our daughter on her return from Chile.

Gene Matusow's nephew Rich is biking cross-country to raise funds for cancer research in memory of Jean's brother Paul, who died in 1987. All contributions will go directly to the lab of Dr. Bert Vogelstein, whose cancer research at Johns Hopkins University has been widely acclaimed. Donations can be sent to American Cancer Society, 11331 Amherst Avenue, Silver Spring, MD 20902, Attn: Ride for Research.

It's now confirmed that Howie and WendyKeller will host a mini-reunion on Cape Cod August 6. Mark your calendars, information will be along shortly.

Bob Shirley reports from the medical front that both Charlie Sellman and Larry Guild have undergone bypass surgery recently, but that both are doing well. Bob's having a little back trouble, but it doesn't seem to be hurting either his performance or his enthusiasm for his golf game. He's particularly proud of the team of Bob Loverud, Dan Goggin, and himself who teamed up in a best-ball tournament in which Goggin consistently sent out the long drives, Loverud executed precision-approach shots, and Bob sunk 11 out of 18 puts to win a benefit tournament for Breast Cancer on Cape Cod.

As to an old but important bit of news, Wayne Kakela reports that Annie Summertime Kakela '92 won two silver medals in rowing at the Prague World Championships and a gold at the Head of the Charles regatta in Boston. Our congratulations both to Annie and to the proud father.

I received a note from the Hood Museum on a new exhibit entitled "Greuby Pottery, a New England Arts and Crafts Venture.""This exhibition will include approximately 100 examples of Grueby pottery and architectural tiles lent by William P. Curry... who has assembled one of the largest and most important collections of Grueby ceramics in the world. The Grueby Faience Company, founded... in 1897, is perhaps the best-known New England producer of art pottery and the one most often associated with the Arts and Crafts style. This turn-of-the century movement rebelled against Victorian taste, focusing instead on handcraftsmanship and honesty of form and decoration."

Thanks for the news you have sent. I could sure use some more.
