We have been hearing lately about the terrible environmental damage and pollution rampant in Russia, but John V. King is undertaking the production and marketing of the first Russian spring water to meet all international standards. It's being packaged in a distinctive molded bottle with an "onion dome" top, reminiscent of the Russian church cupola. Look for the Saint Springs label at a market near you. John got the idea while on a Volga cruise with a small group of Dartmouth alumni.
Jonas Schulman received the Thomas Jefferson Award, Emory University's highest award for service. He has been a faculty member since 1967, the associate dean of the Medical School since 1991, and has been a leader in designing and implementing innovative curricular changes.
Judson Gostin recently received the Enterprise Award for Technology. He's the founder and CEO of Sensis Corporation, a leader in radar technology. Judson founded and built the company with a group of fellow former GE people. The three principles on which Sensis was originally founded, and to which the company still adheres: create a positive emotional, intellectual, and financial environment for employees; be a good corporate citizen, especially to the local community; and provide a good return for investors.
John Austin is president-elect of the War- ren County Bar Association. He has served as Warren County family-court judge since June 1984. John lives in Queensbury, N.Y.
Andrew J. "Chip" Corley is CEO of Corley Manufacturing Company, which his grandfather founded and which Chip came back to run in 1978 after a stint with Warner and Swasey. Corley makes sawmill equipment, particularly for the hardwood industry, at its plant in Chattanooga, Tenn. Chip says that they have a very strong order book, and the plant is worldng very hard to push out the production.
A. Gordon Rippey was recently re-elected treasurer of the Colorado Trust, which is a philanthropic foundation designed to promote the health and well-being of the people of Colorado.
Barry S. Rotman and his two brothers carry on the business their family built and now operate the largest floor-covering and furniture store in New England, with about four acres of selling area. The company places particular emphasis on the development of sales-people, who spend at least two months in training before going solo on the floor. Barry believes that this training is a key to consumer confidence.
Richard E. French, with his Dartmouth background and doctorate from the Harvard Divinity School, has been an adjunct professor at the State University of New York, a liaison and grant writer for the Human Resources Department of the City of Bridgeport, Conn., and recently was named the interim pastor of the United Congregational Church in Norwalk, Conn. Richard is a member of the Interim Ministry Committee of the Connecticut Conference of the United Congregational Church.
A. Robert Tobin has been named CEO of the Russian-American Enterprise Fund, set up to invest in private businesses in Russia and operating with $430,000,000 of U.S.-government funding as its initial capital. Bob was managing director of Lehman Brothers in New York prior to accepting this new challenge. There might be a spring-water company he could help.
