From a pool of ten outstanding applicants our faculty fellowship selection committee (Dan Tompkins, Alan Dynner, BruceFeldman, Josh Rich, and John Clark) chose Assistant Professor David Kotz '86 of the Computer Science Department. He is a favorite among students despite his heavy and challenging work assignments. We have chosen Dartmouth graduates as fellowship recipients for two straight years, reflecting the quality of teaching Dartmouth students receive!
Satisfaction with intellectual stimulation, the quality of teaching, undergraduate curriculum, and extracurricular and athletic experiences at Dartmouth received high marks in the recently released Dartmouth College Alumni Survey. During December 1993 and January PSC International Ltd. conducted this random telephone survey of 1,200 Dartmouth alumni. The survey is most enlightening (and reassuring) while providing an objective measure of alumni attitudes and perceptions. To obtain a copy of the report contact Pat Downing of the Alumni Affairs Office.
Brock and Barbara Saxe, Kent and JoanHutchinson, and yours truly with spouse Pat, were among many who recently attended a wine-tasting dinner hosted by Jay andBarbara Fritz at Amberjacks Restaurant in Norwalk, Conn. The gourmet meal was scrumptious, surpassed only by the fellowship and the fine featured wines of Jay Fritz Winery (including his Fritz 1993 Sauvignon Blanc, 1992 Sonoma County Chardonnay, a 1993 Melon, a "Dry Creek Valley" zinfandel, and topped-off by a 1992 "Late Harvest" zinfandel). All '62s, family, and friends will have the opportunity to taste Jay's wines at Fritz Sonoma Valley Winery as part of our 1962 55th San Francisco Birthday Bash, May 12-15, 1995. More information will be published in our class newsletter.
Frederick K. Roberts continues his outstanding leadership work as president of the Dartmouth Club of Houston. Fred recently organized and chaired the Ivy League and Sister Schools 1994 Scholarship Dinner. The event featured photography by George O. Jackson of a previously unrecorded Mexican Indian Festival, as well as remarks by noted anthropologist Marion Oettinger.
Ed Boselly reports that he was recently named director, sales and marketing, for Surface Systems Inc., manufacturer of weather and pavement sensors for airports and highways and operator of a national weather-forecasting facility. Ed and family are relocating from Seattle to St. Louis. Hopefully the famous St. Louis humidity will not keep Ed and family "sleepless after Seattle."
