I think all will agree that this first '89 is exactly where he should be six years out of college: Ned Ward (remember the keg guy in the marching band?) sent greetings over the Internet from Los Angeles, where he works at Mattel in Hot Wheels marketing. Ned reports he is helping to shape toys for the kids of today. He gets to play with toys all day and then goes home to his near-the-beach apartment in Manhattan Beach. His coolest star-sighting to date has been Susan Olson (Cindy Brady).
I have to thank freshman dorm-mate Bob Beadel, who sent me a short missive about an unstoppable gang of '89s. Bob is currently practicing law at Anderson, McPharlin & Conners in Los Angeles, where he specializes in construction-defect litigation and toxic torts (?!). Lionel Harris will be graduating from Wharton and transforming into a consultant. Joe Pretlowis a wide-traveling associate with Bain Capital in Boston. Dan Levene is "traipsing" through his residency and will soon become an orthopedist in Sacramento. Eric Holmlund is teaching leadership training via wilderness treks through inhospitable habitats.
Jeff Boyd got married in Connecticut last spring with a guest list that resembled a Dartmouth reunion. Dave Gluck continues to live in Brooklyn. He will be starting a Ph.D. program in clinical psychology in the fall and plans to do most of his research on memory. He mentions that Carolyn Luxembourg got married this summer in New York and that Alec Scott is working at a law firm in Canada.
Chuck Wooster is finishing up a job at a wind-power company in Boston and will be working at a farm in western Massachusetts until November. He plans to start a master's at Dartmouth in 1996. Fox Tilghman Cholnoky and her husband Peter '83 recently celebrated the birth of a daughter, Madeline. Fox confirmed that Tom Flanigan has indeed started his own lobster business in Newburyport, Mass. Matt Malaney is living in Rockville, Md. and working at a small investment firm.
Martha Wadleigh has just finished her first year of medical school at Duke. Mamie Curry is soon to be married and then will be heading off to an African country to do volunteer work. After a few years of exotic travel around Europe and South America, Peggy Proctor has setded down in the Bay Area, where she is teaching Spanish at the Branson School. Dana Pilsen, also a recent world traveler (St. Petersburg, Copenhagen, and various sites in South America), is finishing up her master's in art history at Boston University.
