During Carnival week Hanover was "snow poor." Students had quite a time finishing their statue on the Green even with the help of trucked-in snow. Skiing events were moved to Stow, Vt. However, there was a wild celebration at Leede Arena as the men's basketball team stopped, by one point, University of Pennsylvania's 48-game win streak!

Bob Fairchild, M.D., sends news of his classmate at Rush Medical College '34, Stan Friedberg, M.D. Some years ago Stan began the preservation of priceless medical books from the 16th and 17th centuries, the oldest and one of the most valuable published in 1500. These books are housed in the Rare Book Room at the Rush University Library, which hopes to hire a curator to continue Stan's good work in preserving the collection for student access.

Carolyn Shaw Bell (Nels) still writes a monthly economics column for The Boston Globe. She was recently interviewed by The New York Times regarding the success of graduates from Wellesley College, where she was a professor of economics for many years.

We heard from Mary Burke (Dick) in Essex, Conn., where she is happily settled at Essex Meadows, a retirement community. She was looking forward to spending some time in Florida and Eleuthera.

From Rip: "If your senses start to shrivel When you read this sort of drivel It's the writing, not your senses, that is bad.

For the inconsistent fact is I am writing just for practice And to capture rhyme or rhythm, good or bad."

Is Rip referring to his own writing? Or mine? We wonder!
