Since I have no news from the living, I'll turn to one of 1920's once-upon-a-time members for inspiration. A friend recently lent me a copy of What the Old Timer Said, combined with The Old Timer Talks Back, that priceless collection of Vermont wit and humor as told by Allen R. ("Al") Foley, history professor, Vermont legislator, "Mayor" of Norwich, and incomparable storyteller. Our own copy of What the Old Timer Said was lost when our house was sold, and the 1982 Stephen Greene Press publication is out of print, so it was a real joy to re-read the anecdotes and remember Al's Vermont twang as he read them. I hope many members of the 1920 family have copies of this treasure, along with a senior cane and other memorabilia.
Please write and let me know how you weathered this "infernal" summer!
