As we write these notes for December we picture many of you donning gloves and overcoats and a few preparing to ski. But it's August here in Arizona with the mercury at 110-plus all week. Fortunately we were able to tour the cool Oregon coast earlier and enjoyed its magnificent cliffs, lighthouses, and beaches. We stopped at Coos Bay and had a great visit with LesMeister, M.D. He has had some serious recent medical problems including a bleeding peptic ulcer and a cardiac arrest, the latter two weeks prior to our visit. In spite of this he was in great spirits, and looked surprisingly good. We talked M.D. shop, and about coeducation at Dartmouth, and agreed we wish it had existed when we were in school.
Harry Rowe is spending his 54th summer at his Heniker, N.H., cottage and continues to grow his vegetables and flowers. He returns to Grantham in October.
The Chautauqua Institution recentlycelebrated the memory of the late Ambrose Cram, with whom it had a long association. Amby died in North Carolina in February.
Again with sadness we note the passing of Charles E. Adkins, James B. Brown, D.D.S., and John D. McCowan.
