MARCH 1995 George Hoke '35

WHEN I WENT IN to see Dean Craven Laycock he pulled my card out of a box and, without paying the slightest attention to me, went on about my father: "Geo Hoke...Geo Hoke...Yes, I remember him well. Big fellow, bigger than you. Wore big steel-rim glasses. Pitched on baseball team. Headed German Club, Psi U, C & G, took speech from me, but too matter-of-fact. Tried out for the Barge Medal [oratorical prize], and although I voted against him, he won.

"Tell him Craven Laycock says the breed is improving."
