The advertising trade publication Adweek named Chris Meigher's Meigger Communications "Start-up of the Year" for Saveur and Garden Design, two of its flagship magazines. Meigher Communications and its business strategy were also featured in the February issue of Mediaweek. In the article, Chris described the company as "media neutral" and not just a publishing company. He prefers instead to refer to the business as a "content franchise" with offerings of on-line services, CD-ROM, and books in addition to magazines.
Mark Utell's comments on a recent study of long-term exposure to high levels of ozone were featured in the February 3 issue of the Wall Street Journal. Mark is a professor of environmental medicine at the University of Rochester and a member of the Environmental Protection Agency's advisory committee on ozone.

Parker Beverage reports that Colonel Butt Quist, USMC, is now assigned to the Naval War College in Newport, R.I. Must be quite a change from Sarajevo, Burt! It should also be noted with congratulations that John Eisold has been promoted to rear admiral. Still in Washington, John is the attending physician to Congress. Congratulations, John, and go easy on Newt!
On May 6, your class held an executive committee meeting with Mark Waterhouse presiding. Gerry"Bell, John Engelman JohnEverett, John Pilling, Ron Wiess and PeterWeston also attended. As always, I managed to pickup some news. For example, Gerry Bell was appointed (or elected?) to the Casco Bay (Maine) Steamship Authority. I always knew Gerry was an authority. Now it's official. I wonder if Gerry can summon a ferry to Little Diamond Island any time he wants. ClarkWadlow Bill Rich, Jens Raanaas and Bill Hoyt's daughter Ann attended a reception for '67 and '68 parents and their Dartmouth offspring at the May Parents Weekend. Jens has two children at Dartmouth. John Engelman reported that 30 '68 legacies applied to Dartmouth (class of '99), and 13 were accepted. Professor Stan Rosenberg was officially adopted as a member of the class.
Mark your calendars now for a class minireunion on Saturday, October 21, after the football game. We'll be at Smoyer Lounge with the '66s and '67s. The class will also be marching in the Dartmouth Night parade the night before.
