News of all of you is scarce. Tried in vain to reach out for James Huck, LinnMcBride, Jim Pettit, and Paul Lux. Would like to hear from you. This won't reach you until next March, and I hope by then to have news and then some.
I did talk to Dr. Paul Hove man. Paul's in Woodstock, N.Y. Practiced pediatrics in Kingston, N.Y., until his retirement three years ago. Paul had also done a fairly long stint in the navy as a physician but that wasn't limited to pediatrics. Says he's simply taking life easy and enjoying retirement.
Marty Marino, take note, this is your old roommate and fellow grad from Poly Prep, Calvin Gurney now residing in Barrington, N.H. He worked for several years as an engineer for a construction company in Massachusetts. Now retired the past seven years.
Art O'Hara was preparing to take off for Florida but I caught him just in time. He goes to a place called Harbour Ridge, near Stuart. I've written about that place before. Shelters such notables, on a parttime basis, as George Hopkins, HarveyWhite, John Doe niger, and who knows how many other '46ers.
Know that Bob Bogart's around Stuart but I have no number for you, Bob, and would like to hear from you. I would expect the golf course will take a beating from the above mentioned. Art O'Hara still running the greeting-card business, but on a somewhat reduced basis. Art's in Comers Conn., up near the Massachusetts border.
The next two items are courtesy of verylovely wives of two classmates. I have talked to many wives about their husbands and most are much more communicative then their spouses about their exploits. I appreciate that—and do hope none of you men are upset at my Walter Winchell-like tactics. The Rev. Steve Hackett lives in Shafts bury, Vt. He's had quite a career, taught in various places after getting his master's at Columbia. Ordained as an Episcopal minister in 1967, he spent several years in Lynchburg, Va., head of an Episcopal school. Now he's retired but still goes over to Troy, N.Y., on Sundays to help save the souls there. When I called Steve was rehearsing with the Bennington County Choral Society. All this from Willa, Steve's wife. And Steve, ora pro nobis. Thank you.
Dick Howe, where is he? Well in Gardiner, Wash., of course. I must confess I never heard of it but wife Beverly gave me all the dope. It's right near Puget Sound. They have about ten acres and have been there for ten years, following Dick's retirement in Texas from the oil business. Reason I couldn't talk to Dick was because he was at a meeting of the fire company, he being one of the district commissars. Thank you Beverly for being too kind.
I've been at you every issue about the 50th. Time is running down. Make your plans now. Chairman Jim von Rohr and his committee have worked very hard to make this a super affair. Don't miss it.
