Our class gave $146,889 to the College this year. That is short of our goal, but it is a higher amount than any other class in our group gave except 1944, the 50th Reunion class. Well done, TomAdams and your many agents. Thank you all. And Bequest Chairman Frank Ettari reports bequests are doing fine. Enough on finances, but remember the 50th and the biggest thing about it—be there!
I toured the nation (by phone) and found some men we haven't heard about in a while. I had a little trouble tracking some of you down, but it is a big thrill for me to talk to you, and in most cases after a too-long hiatus.
Dr. Wayne Frerichs has been retired for two years from his ear, nose, and throat practice in Arizona. He has a home in Flagstaff, and Wayne did say you're all welcome. He does some scuba diving in the Caribbean and is a ski instructor in the Arizona Alps.
Al Schlosser makes his home in Ballwin, Mo., outside St. Louis. He's been there since 1965 with stops along the way in New Haven, Philadelphia, and Chicago. He worked in the chemicals field and still does a little consulting but is about to call it quits.
Farther out in the West, in fact about as far as you go, I found Jim Roberts in Anaheim, Calif. He's been there since 1961 and works in electronics. Don't know who's the class leader in having children, but he's got to be up on the leader board with his seven. I inquired if he knew where to find his freshman roommate, Tom Laffey. He didn't. Jim Heller had inquired about Tom when we spoke a while back. Tom came to Dartmouth from Poughkeepsie, N.Y. If you know where Tom Laffey is, please let me know. Jim Heller sold his computer company to his employees and is now into forests. No! Not hiking! Owns a couple and sells lumber.
Remember Anthony Brackett? That's Father Anthony Bracket, a Catholic priest. He's retired now for five years and living in Ft. Myers, Fla. His last parish was in Barre, Vt., and he spent his entire career in Vermont, mostly in the rural areas. He too says you're welcome anytime, and he'll even pray for you. You should know I got my request in first.
I'm indebted to a couple of wives for this next. Spoke to Sue Rothenberg, wife of Dan Rothenberg. Dan was in Lebanon, N.H., at one of his shopping centers. He's in the real-estate world as he always has been. Lives in Newtonville, Mass. And I called Bob Sanderson in Buffalo, but wife Marie said he was in Florida on business, that being wire products. Hope you fellows don't mind my prying into your affairs via the other half.
With sadness I must report the passing of our classmates John Vallely, DonaldMcNally, Frank Carleton, and MarcelRichard. Our deepest sympathy goes out to their families.
