Class of 1964 on the Internet? Your class officers would like to know how many of our classmates have addresses on the Internet. Please help us to investigate this by sending me a short note by e-mail at the address at the end of this column. Of course, if you also want to send along some news, our newsletter editor BobPaterson and I will be very grateful. In addition, I want to remind you that as you read this, your class officers are meeting in Hanover to plan our next mini-reunion, which will be held the weekend of October 19. So mark you calendars and plan to be with us.
Now more on the class's Cohen alumni. In addition to Chip Ridgeway (see April column), former Cohen residents CharlieGoodman (Olympic Valley, Wash.), AlfredHorowitz (Glencoe, Ill.), and MarkLowmiller (Seattle, Wash.) are also practicing medicine, with Alfred specializing in radiology and Mark in anesthesiology. Two other classmates, Jim Repnick and Art Simington, responded to my questionnaire. Art is practicing pediatrics at the Lahey Hitchcock in Keene, N.H., and is an adjunct faculty member at the Dartmouth Medical School. Like so many of us, Art reports that his savings are rapidly being depleted by college tuition. Jim responded from Monroe, Wash., that he is practicing family medicine in the Puget Sound area and in his role as regional medical director is making the transition from provider to administration. He is currently involved in an exciting project to develop a health-care advisory system for the region's growing Hispanic population. Also practicing and teaching is Mike Molvar (Lincoln, Neb.), who is in the department of adult dentistry at the University of Nebraska College of Dentistry.
Glen Kendall (London, U.K.) is also an "M.D." (managing director). Glen checked in by e-mail and reports that as of January 1996 he will be moving over from his post of managing director of Oilfield Systems Limited to be an associate with IDJ Limited, an investment services company. Glen moved to London in 1991 after a post-Dartmouth career that included a stint in Vietnam, Tuck School, a year as a White House Fellow, and various positions with high-tech start-up companies in the United States and the United Kingdom.
Also from London comes the tragic news that Brian McMahon was killed in the crash of that American Airlines 757 in the mountains of Columbia just before Christmas.
This tragic closing note should serve as a reminder about the fragile nature of our own lives, and encourage us to make the most of every day especially as it relates to those who are dear to us.
