Thank goodness I dragged myself to exercise class the other day. I go to the fabulous Martin Henry studio in West Hollywood for the always invigorating Power Sculpt class. All right, so I've only been there three times in the last quarter, but I also walk the dog most days except when it rains. (Haven't you read all those studies that say minimal exercise is enoughthings like going grocery shopping and to the cleaners?)

But as I was saying, I was glad I went because whom should I run into but Shanta Sullivan. She was delighted to relate, and I to hear, that she, Chris Fahland (who left the law to be a development executive for the FX Channel), and Lisa Liberati (who, although an '84, graduated with our class) helped get Rob Simmons elected as a delegate to the Democratic convention this summer in Chicago. But there's more! Both Shanta and I had the very exciting experience of exercising behind Kimberly (Marcia Cross) from Melrose Place. How glad am I they killed off Brooke! Fellow enthusiasts will, I'm sure, be titillated to hear that somewhere around the 500 th bicep curl, Ms. Cross got that steely glint in her eye- you remember, like when she went to that lady- get-tough boot camp?

Another postcard from RogerGoodman. He has made it to the South Seas but only, he writes, by cheating. He meant to sail the whole way there from Panama. (My favorite palindrome: A man, a plan, a canal—Panama. What's yours?) The trade winds, however, didn't pick up at a convenient time for Roger. Next he's on to the Samoas and points west. More later, he promises, and that's a quote.

No kids this month, just new jobs: Bill Burke (did we used to call him "Billy" or was that just the actress who played Glinda the Good Witch?) has moved his law practice with Bond, Schoeneck, and King in Syracuse to that firm's office in Naples, Fla. That's a climate choice I approve of! Billy specializes in trusts and estates and tax planning.

The squeamish Gordon Dyal has been elected a managing director, investment banking, of Morgan Stanley in New York. Dave Hartzell, in turn, is now a principal at Alex Brown. And Stephen Farnsworth was hired this past fall as a senior lecturer in political science at Mary Washington College in Virginia.

I apologize for the punchiness of this month's Class Notes but I'm writing on deadline. No, not just this deadline, one for—um, I don't want to say a real magazine, but you get the idea. So look for the May issue of Buzz (an L. A.-based magazine that recently went national, or at least to big cities) and my super-duper guide to social climbing in L.A. I covered the waterfront to write this one, you guys, and it wasn't pretty. Check out the lead. I have Dartmouth and, more specifically, Prof. Lagomarsino to thank for it. Until next month...
