News this season comes pouring in from our classmate Bob Kempainen. Bob has been the subject of countless newspaper articles which laud his first-place finish in the U.S. Olympic Marathon trials. Bob is now training in Minnesota and is a final-year medical student at the University of Minnesota Medical School. Bob's first-place finish in the Olympic trials won him a spot on the Summer Olympic team as head of the '96 U.S. Marathon Team.

Bob's time for the race was two hours, 12 minutes, and 42 seconds.

Bob's marathon record, outside of the Olympic trials is impressive. Second place in his first-ever marathon in Minnesota in 1991; third place in the 1992 Olympic trials in Columbus, Ohio; 17th in the 1992 Olympics; and second in 1993 New York City Marathon; seventh in a U.S. record time of 2:08:47 at the 1994 Boston Marathon. Bob, we wish the best in Atlanta.

We will all be rooting for you!

News also comes in that Marianne Downie has joined the Hartford office of Bingham Dana & Gould law firm.
